I've been on the same birth control pill for almost 5 years now. I am having my period during the pill (not the specified week for my period) for the first time ever. I did miss a pill a couple days before the bleeding began, but I took it like 10 hours later, and I've done that several times before with no period starting. This does appear to be the same bleeding as my period, although it is lasting at least a couple days longer than my period usually does but is now lessening. I have my birth control prescribed to me to only have my period every three months, and I just got done with one a few weeks ago so this is rare for me. Is it the Plan B I took a couple weeks ago? Anything to be worried about?
It can be the Plan B. That pill will mess your cycles up no matter when you take it because it contains several times the dose of one of the chemical parts in regular birth control. However what you are experiencing is breakthrough bleeding, bleeding happening at a time when it is not scheduled to. It is not uncommon for bleeding to begin after taking Plan B, and it is not uncommon to have cycles completely off-sync for awhile (could be a few weeks or months).
There are those who believe that dictionaries should not merely reflect the times but also protect English from the mindless assaults of the trendy.
