Thread: Painful Sex from IUD

Just wondering who has ParaGard (copper/non-hormone) and experiences a "painful pressure" from sex?

Usually, I'm finding that it's happening when we're situated in a deeper-penetration sex position. Missionary or me on top is the most comfortable, which I enjoy, but it can definitely take the spice out of it too.

Am I the only one? I'm worried that something else might be going on, but I would feel better if someone else was experiencing similar findings.

i know this is an old post, but i would just like to share my experience. i had the paragard iud inserted in april 2011 for pregnancy prevention. i do not do well with hormonal birth control so i figured this would be an excellent option for me. the insertion process was HORRIBLE. i felt like i was having contractions & bled for three days. after that, i fell in love. i didn't have to remember to take a pill every day, my boyfriend and i were able to be more spontaneous & i didn't have to deal with the side effects like i did on the pill. however, in november 2011 i started to experience deep cramping and pain during sex. it hurt worse in different positions but it was painful regardless. it got to the point i was no longer interested in sex and this put a damper on my relationship. so i made an appointment with my doctor (the same one who inserted the iud) who agreed to remove it. turns out, it was beginning to embed itself into my uterus! a very reasonable explanation for my pain. so do yourself a favor and make an appointment with your doctor. if i were to wait any longer i would have had to have it surgically removed so avoid this complicated process by having your doctor do an exam to see if the iud has shifted. i hope you get to feeling better soon!
