Thread: Harsh reaction to Levlen ED pill, any other similar stories?

Hi everyone, I am new to this forum and am kind of new to forums in general.

I have been having a bit of a problem for a while. I started taking Levlen ED when my boyfriend and I became pretty serious about six-ish months ago.

About four months ago I began to feel really nauseas. It only started at once or twice a week, and I never vomited, but I figured it was because I was getting too busy to sit down and have proper meals.

And then maybe about two months ago I began vomiting. It was only once or twice, then became really serious, to the point where I was hospitalised because I couldn’t keep anything down.

At this point I went to the doctors and got told I had a stomach ulcer and was given Nexium to take. But still, I was vomiting and was not able to eat anything properly and I knew the doctors had missed something.

Not only that, but my moods are completely out of whack. One minute I will be perfectly fine, and then something so tiny will set me off and I am struggling to maintain control over myself so I don’t begin yelling at someone. Also I couldn’t stop crying. It felt exactly like depression, and my relationship began to suffer from it.

I started researching this, and after speaking to my mother, aunt and a co-worker, they all had similar but not as severe reactions to the pill. I am wondering if anyone has had similar or any reactions to the pill? Maybe it is just Levlen? All I know is that after four months of being this ill and feeling depressed I think I am done with hormonal contraceptives. Anyone on any non-hormonal contraceptives that they can recommend?

I am a little dissappointed that I didn't get more feedback. There must be at least ONE woman who has had the same/similar reaction to me?
