So Im on my third week of the Patch. Its my first time Using it. However everything was fine, no mood swings, no spparent side effects. BUT since about mid-way through my second week of it My breast feel real tender, My stomach feels empty but yet i feel full like i can puke(weird i know), BUT lately its been putting me in a real bad mood like i snap real quick and i feel so annoyed that i cant even STAND myself lol but i do feel for others. Now im wondering if anyone has experienced this before, should i keep tryin it for another month and if its still the same return to PPH and have them switch BC methods. Also it really irritated and kind of scabbed my skin . Any feed back is appreciated. Also how safe is the patch?

My sister is on the patch, and oddly enough she gets the SAME mood swings. Its pretty nasty, but its caused by a hormonal imbalance. The Patch is 99 percent effective, of course it should also be used with condoms, as it doesnt protect against STI's.
If you are on the Ortho Evra patch, your symptoms are quite normal. They have 60 percent more estrogen in them versus the pill. Which will cause sore breasts, mood swings, spotting..but the stomach pain sounds like a reaction to it. Id see your doctor right away.

The reason it irritated your skin could be an allergy to the adhesive they use. Again, please go and see a doctor just to be safe

I had the Ortho Evra patch. The first week was fine, the second week wasnt. I put the patch on my arm and it was like I had a rash. I was told it could irritate the skin, and boy did it. I wanted to rip it off and scratch my arm for an hour. I had mood swings, my body temp was a lot higher. I normally have my house set to 80 degrees and when my husband comes home he turns on the fans and opens windows and i would freeze. On the patch I was dying in 80 degrees and was in shorts and wanted the windows always open. My breasts were so sore and sensitive. I would bump into something and want to cry. My stomach also felt weird. It would hurt and I would feel like I was going to throw up every time I ate or even thought about food. I cant describe the feeling I had.. it wasnt heartburn, but there was a weird pain. Then one day I lost sight of part of my right eye... it got bigger and bigger and finally went away a little over an hour. I couldnt see . I looked up online and it said that symptoms reported before people died on the patch were what I had. I was like SCREW THIS and ripped it off. I'm on Mirena now. :]

Thank U both for Ur response! && Krazy_Glu3 i agree and i hate the feeling of just being mad and shakey and my vision has also been a bit blurry. I just ended my last patch and time for me to find something else, maybe the pill from here to may. Since we will try to conceive starting May<3

L92, hormonal BC affects different women in different ways. The blurred vision may or may not have been caused by this poster's use of the patch.. her having these symptoms does not in any way mean that you will too.

Just be conscious of how you feel physically and emotionally. If you notice changes that you're uncomfortable with, talk to your doctor and see if there are other options available for you to try. If you feel fine, then no need to worry!
