What are the effects of being on birth control..& what pill seems to be most successful?

I am currently sexually active, but thats not the reason im taking the pill.. its to regulate periods.

but all the info i can get would be great i just want to know what im doing

I think the doctor will give you what they think is best for you but i had to regulate my period last year i was on a pill for 3 months called orthrotriciclen (dont know if i spelt that right) it was ok, i did feel like i gained weight with it, but it did regulate my period. Other than that i have never been on any other pill.

I agree with Patricia about asking your doctor to see what's best for you. The only horrible experience I had was with Depo. I HATED it with a passion. My migraines started back up and I gained weight like nobody's business.

i started birth control just under a year ago, and it is definately worth it. my period used to last for 6 or 7 days at the least, so i originally took a pill with a 4 day period. it was called Loestra 24 or Loestrin 24. but because i was just starting birth control my gyno put me on te lowest possable dose, so i still got bad cramps, though not as bad, and severe break through bleeding. so i switched to a three month cycle pill. anyway, what i really wanted to tell you was don't take your pill on an empty stomach because it does not sit well.
