pill or patch??..help
Hi
Im 22 years old and weight around 92 Lbs.(yes i know im underweight)..But i need help choosing a (to some extent safe and reliable) B.C method.Im considering either patch or Pill, I have heared bad reviews about patch because of 60% more estrogen in it.So the only choice i have is to go by pill, as i donot want to put something in the body physically (i.e N-ring).
Please advise if taking pills would be more suitable for me then the patch??????????????
Is pill is the most common method????
also i want to know if i need to see a doctor/GYNO to get a checkup first or going to Planned parenthood would be enough??
thanks,
redrose

I say try the pill.
Every woman is different, but I don't recommend the patch to anyone. And now with all of the negative press (risk of blood clots, deaths, law suits against the manufacturer), to use it means to take a serious gamble with your life. I was on it for about a year and a half. I got headaches, dizziness, and my blood pressure went up. You'll have to check that with a gyn to find out if it's right for you. I don't know the numbers, but the pill is the most common form of birth control used. You should get a check up before you start any form of hormonal birth control...It's good to make sure that you have no medical issues that may be affected by the hormones. I used Planned Parenthood many years ago and had no problem with them...not sure how they are now.
I hope that all works out well for you.

I was on the patch for a few years and never had any problems with it. If I wasnt going over 35 this year I would probably still be on it. I am also very small and was 105lbs at that time. 2 kids later and I am now 120
Although there is a higher risk of clots and such due to the higher estrogen only your dr can tell you whether you personally are at risk for it. Thats why a complete family and medical history is taken. There are so many different types and doseage levels of pills out there and what type they prescibe will be partially based on your history. I personally always like the Tri-Phasil pill. Good luck.

i had the patch for a couple of years...change gyno's a couple of times, then i went back to this one lady i really liked and she told me to get off of it!! and she convinced me that it's not very safe and it increases your blood count, which is the reason why you have a higher risk of getting blood clots when on the patch.
i'm now on the nuva ring and it's pretty good
it depends on if low dose birth control works for you, or if you need a higher one. the patch is like the highest doseage i hear. but true, only your doctor can help you decide on that one.

Hormonal Birth Control- Are You Crazy??!!
Hi, have you ever considered using VCF? Its a non-hormonal contraceptive that you can get over the counter. The company that makes it even gives out free samples to try. VCF Vaginal Contraceptive Film - Index In my opinion, ANY hormonal products are so dangerous, i wouldnt think of using any!!!! You take so many risks that could lead to serious side effects!!!!
