Exclamation Help Asap- Went Off Yaz & No Period For 6 Months, Can I Get Pregnant?

I was on Yaz for about 7 months up until March 2007 when I went off of it (for no significant reason). It has been almost 6 months and I still have not had a period yet, not even spotting. I was going through a period of stress and I did lose some weight which could contribute to the reason I haven't had a period. I was told to start taking Yaz and I would have a normal period again, so I started taking it this past Friday, Aug. 10. So here are my questions:

1. I have been sexually active for the past month, and even though I haven't had a period for the past 6 months that I've been off the pill, could I still get pregnant?

AND

2. I took my 1st pill this past Friday at 5pm, and took the 2nd pill Sat at 5pm, but I then had sexual intercourse Saturday night around 11pm and did not use protection. Should I be worried about getting pregnant since I had only taken 2 BC pills at that time? Tonight I will no longer be able to take the Plan B because it will be 72 hours after intercourse, and I really do not know if I should get it or not? I need some advice, should I not worry about the unprotected intercourse I had Sat. night since I haven't had a period in 6 months and had taken 2 days of Yaz already? Please let me know ASAP because I need to get the Plan B by tonight!

Hi JB and welcome.

1. Some women still ovulate when their periods are 'off', or ovulate one month and not ovulate the next. You don't know if you're ovulating. You could become pregnant.

2. You need to take your pills for seven consecutive days to be 'covered', so after taking only two pills, you could become pregnant.

Exclamation I'm in your boat

Hello. I was just searching for some answers for my own problem, and I found that you were also having the same thing. I haven't had a period for almost 9 months. No I am not pregnant. I have been taking yaz the whole time expect the doctor just took me off to let me have a period.. but I havne' thad one yet and it's been a month. I was like clock work before Yaz, so I was wondering if other women had this problem and how long it took for their periods to come back.

I also wanted to say that my body feels like it is going through a period. My ovaries cramped for a day or so, then a few weeks later I started having cramps (breaking out and my boobs hurt) I was for sure I would see blood.. but it's been about a week from that and nothing. So I thought maybe my lining was too thin? I don't know, but I'm ready to figure this out! Anyone have anything like this happen to them???

hey browneyedgirl,

I have had the same thing but was taking the depo shot. I haven't had a period since feb. '07. I don't know how long it takes to get out of your system and everything to return to normal. I wish I knew because it would be nice when I was going to have a period, I was always on time before I took the shot. I was suppose to start yaz when I stopped the depo but wanted to wait until my cycle return before starting a new birth control method. Do you recommend yaz?

browneyedgirl, I am in the exact same boat as you? I see that you posted in 2007, did you ever figure out what the problem was?
