I'm 16 and have been taking Yasmin for about 3 years with no problems, until lately. I've had horrible yeast infections month after month lasting weeks, after visiting my doctor over and over she gave me a presciption for 3 months of diflucan, which still did not relieve them. This all slowly started happening a few months ago when my doctor put me on the Emsam Patch (an MAOI) for depression/anxiety. After I was put on this I also started getting lightheaded, my "boil type" and my back acne has returned, and my periods have been very light almost like i'm just "spot bleeding".
I have POS (polycystic ovary syndrome) and the symptoms yasmin is supposed to control are coming back. I don't know if it's the yasmin itself or if it's the emsam reacting with it. I have recently been to my gynecologist and she said the lightheadedness was from my blood sugar (I also have insulin resistance) spiking. But nothing towards it being caused by either medications.
Has anyone else had problems with Yasmin, or it reacting with another medication? Also, whats another good birth control that may work better with the emsam patch?
