Thread: copper IUD quick question

Hi ladies,

I have posted a few questions about the copper IUD but I am just trying to put my mind to rest

had it inserted on the 14th june and had unprotected sex a week after, I did a preg test a week after sex it came back neg, i did one a week after (exactly 2 weeks) also neg, these were clearblue ones and i did them in the morning. the reason i did tests were because I was due for my period at the end of the month i was spotting at first with no cramps, the cramps came and heavier bleeding around the 1st July but nothing different to a normal period. I was told by my doc that periods may become lighter, not all people suffer heavier ones etc.

I am having a blood test done this Thursday to check things are ok and make sure 100% i am not pregnant, but in the meanwhile I just wanted some reassurance, I would not have had a period if I had sex that week, surely i would have missed that period and I know its only been 2 weeks but a preg test would have picked up hormones by then to tell if i was or not.
