Thread: Weight Gain/Excessive Bloating on Quasense/Seasonale

Has anyone else taking Quasense (the generic version of Seasonale) experienced excessive weight gain? I am on my fourth month of this BC pill and have gained 10 lbs. already. I constantly feel (and look) bloated. So much in fact that I look as though I could be pregnant! I went in for a pelvic exam and an ultrasound and the doctors found nothing abnormal. There is a lot of pressure in my lower abdominal region. I am thinking of discontinuing taking this pill, but don't want to if that's not the problem or a common side effect.

I took seasonale last year over the summer and then stopped taking any birth control until july of this year. I was given quasense this time and the first month was fine. Then, about 5-6 weeks into it, I started feeling bloated and I became and emotional wreck. I felt all out of whack and gained about 8lbs. I continued the pill until the 9th week when I began having extremely bad cramps and pains in my lower stomach. I felt awful and I was bleeding 10x worse than a normal period. I stopped the pill and let the bleeding finally get out of my system. I will never try this pill again because it obviously does not suit me or my body. I can not deal with the side effects of it.
