I have a question....
I am newly married, about six months now. I am on the pill and I'm pretty responsible about taking it so unless there has been an act of God I'm not too worried about an "accident" baby, while it would be welcomed with a warm heart, it's just not my main concern.....How ever I went on vactaion last month to see my best friend for her 21st birthday wich of course led to smoking and drinking which if memory serves me correct can make birth control less effective. Upon my return home my husband and I were active sexually, which would normally be right around ovulation time......Now it's a little more than a month later....my last period was 2 days early and very short and light. It was also really weird. For instance, instead of bright red blood....it was a brownish dirty color with a texture more similar to discharge and the last week or so I have been experiencing discharge and an incessant need to pee......I don't think that I'm pregnant, and even in I am I'll know in a week if my period doesn't come, but if I am can birth control hurt the baby? And if I am not then why the sudden increase in discharge? What is that all about? Well, just wondering and looking for an older woman's/doctors perspective.....I would ask my mom but she's dealing with a lot right now and I don't want to worry her or I guess get her hopes up......

I have had 3 children all on my own terms, in other words, they were mostly planned!
I do not think that you should worry. As long as you have been consistant in taking the pill you should be fine. The more you worry, the longer it will take for your period to come. If you are more then a few weeks late, take a test and call your OB
