something's wrong
Following a close call with my condom where the condom broke and I had to take the morning after pill I decided to go on the pill.
I'm taking a 3 week on, 1 week off but I decided to carry on an extra week because of certain circumstances.
I stopped this week and started awaiting my period with no idea of what it would be like.
Today I started getting telltale signs of my period which I thought might be a bit odd but I just thought "well I dunno what it should be like" and just shrugged it off.
However this evening I started getting the worst abdominal pain since having appendicitus which, for those of you who don't know, is pretty **** horrendous. It seemed generally situated around the left side of my lower abdomen and was like a period pain but worse and without the bleed.
Eventually a light bleed has started but it's still really painful though it's lightened up since.
I can't understand it. This pill is supposed to help girls with heavy, painful periods and although it appears to have lightened it, the pain has been the worst ever with me close to tears.
Am I wrong?? Is this normal and I was just misinformed?? Could it be that it's because it's my first period since going on the pill and no one bothered to warn me that it might be painful, including the leaflet?? I'm just confused (and in pain *grmble*).

well i took the pill for a very long time and i never had pain like that before. i have been on every type of birth control known to man kind really. i had one experience when i was younger that sounds similar to yours. well one day i felt really awful. i had terrible pain in my left side and ended up in the hospital from it. they ran every darn test they could, ultrasound, checked for gall stones, pregnancy test, appendicitis, you name it they checked for it trying to figure out what the pain was from. well they ruled everything out one by one until it all boiled down to me ovulating...... hmmmmm strange i thought, but thats what it was from. they say women can and in fact will have a painfull ovulation. also another senerio is that my 7 year old had a similar pain went to the hospital and had a catscan to find out what was wrong with him and he had an impaction where he hadn't had a bowl movement in awhile. are you constipated? they gave my son an enima and stool softener and fixed him right up. my son doesn't have the greatest diet. so know i have to make sure he eats lots of fruits and drinks plenty of juice. well i hope i shed some light on your problem. if it gets to bad then don't hesitate to see your doctor.
