    Unhappy Life After Birth Control

I've been on tricyclen for about 6 years, 5 months ago I went off of it completely; after the first month of going off I missed my period which freaked me out so I went to see my nurse practitioner who said it was a normal thing after being on the pill for so long without taking a month off of it per year (my doctor never told me to take any breaks, only for my period), after 2 months I had a normal period, so I was thinking, "finally back to normal", but I wasn't; now everytime I go to the bathroom I have mentrual blood, but darker and a very light flow. It's been very frustrating dealing with this plus having slight abdominal pain, I'm hoping to see my doctor soon but I can't get in for another month, I just want to make sure this isn't a permanent thing and that I'll still be able to conceive later in life. Any info or other experiences would be greatly appreciated.

Try not to worry to much about it. It's just going to take a while for your body to get used to "functioning" on it's own. I was on BC for about 8 years before I had my second child.

    Wink Same Problem

I had the same problem coming off bcp. I was on it for a little over a year and about 5 months ago I quit completly. Since then I have had a period every 2 weeks and I am not ovulating. I am hoping to have a baby within the next year or so but the way im going I dont think it is going to be easy.

Hopefully both of us straighten out! Good luck!!
