    Question Spotting "normal" on pill??

    Hey everyone,

I've been on Ortho TriCyclen Lo for about a year now, and I also use condoms 99% of the time I have sex.
So, when I was on my active pills, I started to spot. I completely freaked out because it had never happened before, but my local family planning agency told me to just continue taking pills from the same pack. So after a day or two, it stopped.
Then about four or five days later I started to spot AGAIN! My period is due tomorrow and the spotting is off and on. I've been wearing pantiliners, but hardly ANYTHING comes out onto them. Is this normal? I'm not too concerned about pregnancy because I'm so careful (read first sentence).

In November, the condom my partner was wearing brooke and I took Plan B. I didn't experience any symptoms (like nausea, vomitting, etc), but could this have anything to do with what I'm experiencing NOW??

Any advice, stories, or information to share? Please do!

    Thanks in advance!

    hey megbee,
well what it sounds like to me is your having some break through bleeding. it isn't that uncommon for you to experience this. alot of women do. maybe you could talk to your gyno about a different pill or birth control method if gets really bothersome for you. just wondering if you take your pills consistantly about the same time everyday? in my opinion when you took the plan B back in november wouldn't be related to this problem your having now. well i hope i could help out a little.....

I usually do. This past month, I returned home from college and my parents don't know I'm on the pill, so I have to try really hard to hide it. I take my pill regularly at 6:00, but this month, I've taken it anytime from 5-7:30. Would this make a huge difference? I've heard taking it within a 4-hour time frame is still effective.

Thanks so much for your help!!

As long as it is taken within a 4-5 time frame, you are still protected. When I first started taking birth control pills 15 years ago, it wasn't a problem. In fact, I had no problems with them. Now, after having 2 babies, it is the opposite. I am now spotting midway through my packs (active pills), I have no sexual desire, and I feel as though the bcps have totally taken control of my life. My husband and I have decided that it would be best for me to get off of them for awhile. In the meantime, we are going to be using the rythem method. Good luck to you.

I had spotting for the entire two years I was on my pill. I finally got off of it when I heard about Femcap, a modern day, reusable diaphragm. No side effects, no hormones.

    Default similar question....

Hey, I have a similar question to hers.
To answer her question, I agree that it just sounds likes breathrough bleeding since it isnt heavy and you are very protected.

I have been on this pill for a year. I just had my period a week ago (while taking the placebos, like planned) but today I had really random moderate bleeding. it seems to be done. but i have never had this happen to me before. i've never had breakthrough bleeding, and this seems too heavy to be breakthrough (its not really heavy, it was just moderate). ive never missed a day taking the pill and i always take it within a 2hr timeframe. i dont want to spend $50 on plan b and have those side effects if it isnt necessary. should i just get a take home pregnancy test, or just not worry about it and continue taking this pack of pills and wait and see what happens in a couple weeks when i take the placebos again?

sorry if this should have been posted as a new topic. i just joined, and it looks like other people have posted questions on this thread.

    For the readers,

Please answer only to daisy699 and dooogle, as the other threads are old...

Hope you girls get the answers you need.

Personally, I think our bodies do go out of wack, if it's any concelation, mine still does and I'm way older than you.

Stress can play a part in it, if you've been taking the pill, I would hold off until your next period due and see what happens...

Stressing about it will make it worse, so try to feel calm..

Daisy, your Doctor is probably right, your mixing chemicals with chemicals and you've lowered dosages so your body is trying to adjust to the new dosage and is probably confused.
