Yes i have miss my period for a whole month i wish some body can tell me how to they remove the coils and where they went because i am trying to get my took out.I would tell any body dont do it because it is to much pin and doctors dont tell you the correct information you need to know they just want the service and money they really dont care about your health at all. I am on month 2 after my Essure and I am still having pain on my left side. I went back to the doctor and he said the pain is likely unrelated. But aside from that I have been spotting since Oct 2nd. This is crazy! Anyone else having this problem. The pain I feel starts in my left hip and radiates down to my leg. Any advice.

Don't let them push you around. If you did not have this pain before essure metal coils then it is likely that the pain is related. My pain got worse with each day. At first I just thought I was taking longer to recover. I'd wake up in the am and it seem a little better but by night the pain would be terrible. It hurt to drive, walk or sit for long periods. The pain wasn't as bad if I could keep my right leg straight. It finally got to where it hurt bad pretty much all the time. I was told there was no way the essure metal coils could be the problem. That it would probably be best just to get a hysterectomy. I refused because by then I had already started researching the essure procedure, realized my doctor didn't really know that much about them and knew I was going to change doctors. There were removed laproscopically by another doctor.

Well, I had my tube removal today. The side that the inserter broke on also had the coil break and we didnt know it. it unwraveled itself in my tube and made it a lot (about 3x) larger than it should have been. She said it likely would burst if we didnt get it out. So we took the tube and just did a TL on the side that was doing fine. So, I'm hoping that resovles the pain that I have been in.

I'm just curious, has anyone else gotten the card with the coil numbers on it that you are supposed to give to the doctor during any pelvic exam or proceedure? If so are the doctors following the directions and contacting the doctor who conducted the proceedure or are they doing their own evaluation of the problems?

The card is to alert them that you have the metal coils in case they want to do an MRI, if they are going to do a D&C or any other procedure involving the reproductive organs.
I wasn't given any cards. Part of the reason for them needing to know in the case of considering doing an MRI is that it comes across as some sort of distortion. The radiologist and physician may not realize that the distortion is from the coils and think it is some sort of abnormal growth which if the distortion is actually from some sort of abnormal growth then they could chalk it up to the coils where a woman might actually have something more serious going on. Also on the MRI's they think it is safe to use them at the current level of magnetic resonance but as that increases in strength then it might fry your guts to have a MRI. |

Dear Skblackmar:
I had a similar experience with Essure - severe abdominal pain within 20 days after the procedure. My procedure took 1.5 hours, not the 13 minutes as advertised, and it turns out my doctor put two coils in my left tube because the fallopian tube was larger than normal (strange choice??). Anyway, long story short, the two coils dislodged, and floated out of the tube and into my abdomen; one landed beneath my uterus, and the other by my bladder. So I ended up in the ER in the middle of the night in excruciating pain, and had to have emergency surgery the next day to remove the coils, and have a tubal ligation. So, $36,000 later for the hospital stay and surgery (luckily paid by my insurance co.), I ended up with the procedure I was trying to avoid in the first place. I think the Essure company does not disclose all the risks clearly and the procedure has not been tested, nor the doctors trained, enough. I am an attorney also, but do not do malpractice or products liability cases, so not sure if I'll pursue it. Hockey Mom |

Hello.
I have read your posts for the last two years since I got the essure coils and this is the first time I have posted anything myself. Placement of the essure coils was a breeze and even the HSG test went great. However, I have been having some problems and I am wondering if it is related to the coils. The last year I have been getting little twinges of pain where my right tube would be and today something happened that really scared me. I have an apt Thursday because my lower abdomen has been swelling a couple of times a month...sometimes only lasting 2 days and sometimes lasting 5 days but it was never painful. I look like I am 5 months pregnant. I have a small frame and it is very noticeable especially when it goes back to normal. I have had some mild cramps and lower back pains. However, today my lower abdomen swelled up very large and I started getting very painful menstrual cramps and my lower back felt like I was having mild labor pains. I decided to go get out of the house for a distraction so I didn't focus on the pain but I started getting very light headed and I noticed that I couldn't even stand up straight without my lower abdomen really hurting. 3 hours later, the swelling went down (I layed down) and most of the pain went away. However, my lower abdomen feels like I just spent 10 hours at the gym and my back is still a little sore. When I stand up or move quickly I can really feel it. Also, maybe a little TMI, but I noticed that when I wipe after a bowel movement (which was normal) I can feel the pain all the way up into my abdomen just from the light pressure of wiping. Anyway, I am freaking out a little bit and am looking for some answers. Thank you, Arienne |

i am 28 and have a 9 mo old girl. i have had problems with my period for over 8 years. i know a couple of people who have had the novasure, endometrial ablation to end their periods. their doctors gave them a traditional tubal and the ablation at the same time. when i mention it to my dr he argued with me over the fact that i need more kids. we are just fine with the one we have and we are very lucky to have her after a really rough pregnancy. well according to him he no longer does the lap tubal, only essure. i am not happy with this but we live in a rural area and theres not much options of drs around here. i have called around and nobody else will take me right now. i really do not want to have this done but i dont see any other options. im having it done december 3rd. all of the problems that people are talking about have been running through my head. ive had alot of female problems and i dont see how im even a good canidate for this. all i really want done is the ablation but they have to make sure your sterilized first.
