Don't give up. There are some of us that are working to get the truth out about this procedure. If we do not accomplish anything but making women aware that this procedure has some really bad risks. In my opinion it has more risks than benefits.

You should feel proud that you have accomplished your goal. I might be the woman that you all prevented from having the procedure.

My SO and I have been together for 13 years and we have a 9-year old. I'm 43. I don't want any more children, nor does he. And while it would be way more cost-effective with our insurance plan for him to have a vasectomy, there are future risks associated with it and we both were concerned with those. Last night on TV I saw a commercial for Essure and thought it had been the answer to my hopes! I don't want the expense and down time associated with a tubal ligation and thought... this Essure thing sounds promising. So I of course logged on to the website this morning and started reading about it. It sure did sound wonderful.

After feeling pretty pumped up by the Essure website, I Googled Essure and after sifting through the sites that pretty much promoted it with no "user" reviews, I found this site. You all have really opened up my eyes. Now, I know that with anything, there are always going to be negatives. It is that way with medications, procedures, and really anything in life. Some people will love it. Some people will hate it. And then there's everything in between. But I am seeing A LOT of negativity about this procedure... things that NONE of the other sites have talked about. This site is the first time I heard about legal action against Essure. This site is the first time I have read all the comments from actual people who have had the procedure done who were not happy or, God forbid, became pregnant!!

So I wanted to post a thank you to all of you ladies. Thank you for getting the information out there for those, like myself, who thought it nothing short of the answer to prayers, only to discover that it turned into a nightmare.

Thankyou for writing that. I want women to know what the real risks are. They downplay the risks. Problem is that when it goes bad it is bad. The doctors don't really know what to do if there is a problem. My doctor insisted the metal coils weren't the cause of my pain. He said there was no way they could cause pain, that I just needed to have a hysterectomy. I feel like he tried to manipulate me into thinking that it was all in my head. I have said that before but I just wanted to point out if you read the posts many women go thru the same thing. Doctors that aren't willing to even admit there could be a problem with the metal coils. I honestly believe it is because they are not sure whether or not they did something wrong when trying to place the metal coils because it is not always as easy to do as they claim. The company does not stand behind it's product. If they did they would be consulting with the doctors and patients who have problems trying to help resolve and correct the procedure to make sure the procedure works properly in the future. I wonder how many women have been convinced to just have a hysterectomy when they have problems and it never gets reported. I trusted my doctor and if he had told me to come in the 1st time I called about the pain and lets see what is going on, I probably would have taken his advice to just do the hysterectomy but due to the way he treated me, I started researching and was horrified to realize the sheer number of things that can go wrong with this so called simple procedure.

Thanks for the words of encouragement. There are some that attack those of us who post the negative stuff. I figured out some of those are company reps so ladies just be careful. Do your research and don't take anyones word. Not even mine. Study the risks associated and make sure you are willing or are able to deal with the problems that can occur financially and emotionally if things go bad

Sheller law is investigating the essure procedure. If you have had problems you might want to contact them. I would suggest doing this as soon as possible.

    Default Essure Pregnancy

We had Essure correctly implanted for 1.5 years now (verified with dye). The product literature cited no pregnancies with properly installed Essures. Marketed as a highly desirable flawess, logical option. Well, we are pregnant. It is not a viable one. We've been told report to the hospital tomorrow to treat a probable ectopic pregnancy. This is an urgent decision by the doctor. Very difficult experience for us. Thanks for yor postings. We thought ourselves to be the crazy anomoly.

Default Thank you!!! Thank you!!! Thank you!!!

I want to first off say. I am so very sorry to hear all the horrid stories about this procedure and the negative effects it has had on so many women and their families. My story is strange, but, I've been blessed with one beautiful 16 year old son. And have had 3 failed pregnancies. In 2004 I was told that they (3 different doctors) wanted to take my uterus because of HUGE fibroids, and these played a part in my inablilty to carry my babies full term. So, I fought so hard to keep my uterus because I was young, and I definately wanted another child.. at least one. So, I found a wonderful high risk doctor, whom I adore and he actually saved my uterus, by performing a myomectomy, instead of a hysterectomy. But, I got pregnant again, and still lost the baby. So, I decided, I'm done with the hurt that comes with continuously losing a baby. Me and my husband, both have come to the agreement that we don't want any more children now. He has one, I have one.. we are fine. So, I called my wonderful doctor to inquire about a tubal ligation, and was told about this WONDERFUL procedure that doesn't require you to be out of work too long with the recovery of a tubal ligation; it was an "in office" procedure that would not require me to do anything other than pay a "copay" and would save me the money of hospital "outpatient fees", and all the other high costs of having a procedure done in the hospital. So of course I was all ears. It sounded HELLA wonderful... so, they told me I would have to come in for a consult and could have the procedure done within 2 weeks after. I called my husband to let him know, and I was actually estatic about the situation. Finding an alternative to birth control and tubal ligations. My husband wasnt for hearing about a vasectomy AT ALL. So, I started researching this procedure and of course the essure site has nothing but positive raves about it... BUT definately NO HORROR stories. I AM TOTALLY THANKFUL TO THE BRAVE WOMEN WHO FEEL THAT THEY ARE OBLIGATED TO WARN OTHER WOMEN ABOUT THIS PROCEDURE. I thank you, I thank you, I thank you. You are allowing others to make sound choices by hearing 'the other side' !!! Because essure only allows us to hear one side. And after telling my husband about the horrible stories on here and other sites, he says "he'll think about the vasectomy"... thank God. If all else fails, I'll just go the old school route of a tubal ligation. again, thank you ladies 1000 times over... thank you... Lakesha

I am 28 years old and have 2 wonderful daughters 8 and 4. My husband who is 39 and I have decided that we are done having kids and we are very happy and content with just have the 2. I have tried just about every from of hormonal birthcontrol there is. I do not like myself when I am on hormonal birthcontrol. I have migranes and horrid mood swings. My husband has decided that a vasectomy is out of the question. So it is up to me to be sterile. I saw a comercial for Essure last night on TV and went to the essure site right away. Now I now I am alergic to nickle so when I saw a very small blip on there site that said something about nickle in the coils my heart sunk but it did say that it was so minimal that it was not an issue. I decided that before I got my hopes up I would do some more research about Essure and see if there was anything about it the Essure site would not tell me. After reading through story after story about how lots of women are having issues I have decided that a TL is now my only way to go. I would like to say THANK YOU to all of you brave women who have posted here and let those of us, who might have gotten this done on the doctors word it was safe, know of the risks that Essure doesnt tell you about. You have saved me from a procedure that more than likely would have been very bad for me due to the nickle in the coils. Although I am sad because this sounded so great I am very happy to see so many take a stand and get the word out.

Thank you agian to all of you for all this very helpful information. I can only hope my husband changes his mind about a vascetomy like the last poster.

Thanks for letting us know that we are getting the word out. It is hard for me to keep looking and responding to the posts because it upsets me that so many doctors are so willing to do this procedure. I have done much research, I've read their clinical trials many times looking at how they word what they say about the procedure and I believe without a doubt they are being clever with words to cover their deception. I am so disappointed in our doctors. You would think women doctors would be less likely to do this procedure and less likely to dismiss a womans complaints but reading the posts it seems they are just as bad as the men. I am so disappointed with the FDA and our goverment. It seems that no one cares about anyone anymore. They only care about how much money they can make. I am determined to make as many women aware of this as possible. I'm researching into starting my own site or blog that deals with the essure procedure. Hopefully if I can do this then the word will get out sooner about this procedure. I have also done enough research that I have info on who some of the investors are and I have thought about contacting them.
