    Unhappy Acne and birth control

I never had acne, until I turned 24, and now I have had moderate acne for 7 months. 5 months ago I went on ortho tri-cyclen to combat the acne and for birth control. I find it's extremely agreeable with me, no mood swings or weight gain or bloating, but my acne is taking forever to heal...I still get some blemishes, although less and smaller, but it's been almost 5 months! How long is it supposed to take??? I was on Diane 35 before and never had any problems with it and my skin, and despite the other problems i had with it (bloating, weight gain, lower sex drive), i am tempted to go back on it just to clear my skin faster because it know it works! I like tri-cyclen so far but I'm just afraid it's not enough to fix my skin! Is it normal for it to take over 5 months to clear up simple acne???

There is no set time frame that birth control is said to have positive effects on things such as acne. There is also no way to be certain that a particular birth control will even help you with that. It depends on the way that birth control works and how your individual body reacts. It may be that the birth control you are on will not provide the desired effects. Or, it may be that you have not waited long enough for your hormones to balance. It can some times take a long time. Have you concider acne treatment such as ProActive or something over the counter like Neutrogena?
