I'm getting an IUD inserted today and I'm a nervous wreak. I heard it hurt.

I won't lie to you. Insertion was a bit uncomfortable for me but only for a about two minutes as my uterus was measured to make sure that the IUD would fit. If you had posted earlier, I would have told you to talk to your dr about taking a pain medication before the procedure. But I hope that all goes well for you today.

Thank you for your reply. I did take 2 advils before my appointment. I had the IUD inserted. All I felt was alittle cramping but it wasn't too bad. I had the mirena IUD. Years ago I was awake when they did a D&C so I figure if I can stand the cramping from a D&C, I can do this. LOL The only thing is I can't feel the string, I guess it takes practice. LOL My doctor said it takes about 3 months for us to get used to the IUD. So I might feel alittle cramping and spotting for the first 3 months but after that it will be better and no more periods. LOL
