Stopping Hormonal BC; Q's about Barrier Methods of BC
I am sick to death of hormonal birth control, and stopped taking my pill this month after my period. For around four years now I have been dealing with migraines, different migraine medication, and other side effects from birth control pills and patches such as bloating and sore breasts. I know these are pretty average, but the migraines were really getting me down. I have never had any until I started Birth control, and I even just got on a lower dose of BC to try and reel them in.
After starting the new lower dosage, I started breakthrough bleeding for like, 14 days. Finnaly went through my normal period and stopped bleeding. I took the next months first pill at night, woke up the next morning and within an hour had another migraine. I was like, ok, ENOUGH OF THIS!
So I didn't take another pill and went out and bought some contraception gel and a new box of condoms for my boyfriend. I have been researching about barrier methods of birth control, like daphrams and such. My mom was always using a diaphram when she was in college because birth control effected her moods too much. She told me about them and said she never had an accidental pregnancy while using them.
I found the cervical cup, a new and improved kind of daiphram.
I am looking for people who have used a cervical cup before. What's it like? I have never used anything around my cervix before, and am a bit nervous about it but thats just because I've never done it before. From what I read there are three different sizes available depending on whether or not your had babies, which I have not. Does this mean I don't have to get fitted for it? Just wondering about it...
Also, if anyone has used any other kind of barrier methods and has tips, it would be much appreciated! Thanks!

I too am sick of dumping hormones into my body. I have never used a barrier method personally but I have heard of a fairly new one called Leah's Shield. I have been using NFP since 2/07 and its been working well for us. I am very regular with my cycles and I track them on MyMonthlyCycles - Menstrual Calendar, Ovulation Calendar, Fertility Cycles when I'm fertile I use condoms and I always give myself a few days before and after what they say, just in case
