I've been on microgynon for three months, and i'm on the third seven day break.
I went to the clinic yesterday to collect more pills, and I was given a leaflet with them. Reading through the leaflet, it said "take your first pill on the first day of bleeding." This was familiar to me, as all my friends on the same pill had said they did this.
However, when i first started the pill, the doctor i had had told me to start after my period had been, so i'd been doing this for the three months i've been on the pill!

Now i'm REALLY confused - do i start today, when my period has started, 5 days in from my week off, or do i have to wait seven days, like i always did, AFTER my period, even though this isn't what i'm actually meant to be doing with these pills?!
If i take them now, will the effectiveness of the pill decrease, or what?

I know i should have asked the clinic this in more detail, but all they repeated was "read the leaflet" after giving me a brief over view.
