Question new to the pill, what to expect??

hi, i was just looking for some feedback or comments.. i've been reading through the forum most of the day and it has been quite helpful.
however, i'm new to the whole pill taking bc and have only been on it (Yaz) for 15 days. my dr. told me to start and take the first pill on day 1/within 24 hrs of my period, which i did. the first week and a half i had zero symptoms. my period was semi normal to light and i didn't have horrible cramps like normal. no other symptoms- my husband actually referred to it as my "happy pill" because he says i was in a great mood every day.. after reading horror stories and everyone's negative feedback about Yaz, i was pleasantly surprised.. my questions are this, the past day and a half i have been experiencing nausea and kind of light headed at times. the later half of today has been nausea and feeling like i need to eat tums or something.. and now cramping . my concern would be that i was told i didn't need a waiting period to let the medicine get into my system or any form of back up contraceptives... could these symptoms simply be delayed responses to the pills as my body figures out what the heck i'm doing to it? or will these symptoms be a red flag to get a hpt? (i'm not opposed to having children, just wasn't planning on it right now...)
other than not being used to all this, and knowing too little about my own body and how it responds to stuff- i haven't had any objections to YAZ in particular.. but then i don't have other brands to compare yet.

I dont take yaz, but a good friend of mine has and she experienced alot of inbettween period spotting, including one incident during sex. I take Orto Trycylin Lo, its the lowest dose of estrogen, and I'm moddy enough as it is I dont need more! Yaz to me is a bit sceptical because they put you down to 4 periods a year, and thats alot less then 12 a year, so your bound to get between period bleeding, which I could not deal with due to my love for my favorite white pants. My friend also said she gained weight when she started taking yaz, which is a side affect of all the pills so you should expect a bit of that. But you know everyones body is different so you may have no symptoms at all.

I don't know much about Yaz as I am not on that specific brand, but I do know that it took my body about 4 months to adjust to the new medication... I had slight headaches and I bled for a week before my actual period started.
I took a different kind of pill before my current one, and my body absolutely HATED it. I stuck to it for almost a year, but I felt miserable.
My advice is to just listen to your body...if you feel funny or "different" after a decent amount of time, then I would consider switching to a different pill.
As the previous poster stated, all bodies are different and will react differently...there's something out there for everyone, so make sure you find it!!!!
Self-love has very little to do with how you feel about your outer self. It's about accepting all of yourself. You've got to learn to accept the fool in you as well as the part that's got it goin' on!

hello there i am also new to bc and i happen to be taking yaz as well. i have been on it for 8 days but i have not experienced anything yet. i was also scared of side effects and still am, especially about gaining weight but since ive been on the pill i feel less hungry. one imprtant thing is that my gyno said to use protection for the first 2 week taking the pill that means condoms! one thing i would like to ask you is how are you paying for yaz? i ask because i had to pay $50 for it. hope i helped a little.

if you're not opposed to having children then why not just go with a condom?
I didn't try yaz when I was on birth control but I didn't like what my birth control was doing to my metabolism and body so I'm actually about to ask a question concerning that soon
    best of luck

can't say anything pro/con about the weight issue. i haven't noticed any changes.. i was tired alot though the first couple weeks. aside from that i haven't had any additional side effects (other than what i mentioned above) of course i've just finished the first 24 active pills.. no spotting, no period... my gyno told me different than yours, she said if i start on the first day rather than a sunday start, than back up wasn't necessary.. guess we'll see huh?..
as far as paying for it, i'm not yet. my dr. gave me 2 months of sample packs to see how i liked it... with my insurance (it being a newer and "brand name" pill) it's still $50 a month.. i haven't decided whether or not i'll look into changing to an "off brand" or not. still have alot of unanswered questions about comparisons.

does anyone know the differences or pro/con between the 21 active and 24 active packs? (i noticed all the less expensive meds through my insurance were all fewer active pills with a week of sugar ones...)
