*I have posted this elsewhere but have not had replies so I am trying here. Any advice is welcome!*
Okay so to start with, I haven't had my period since February (this isn't the first time I have had "issues", I have only had 4 periods for the last year). All my labs have come back normal that my PCP ran and I am not pregnant. So naturally my PCP sent me to a fertility specialist to find out why I am not having a period/ ovulating. Well, although I am ready4mommyhood... my husband is not so sure if he is ready4daddyhood so instead of putting me on Clomid like most people would be the specialist put me on YAZ and told me that if I got my period I was ovulating. I thought YAZ, as with other BCpills, inhibited ovulation. Has anyone heard of this before or have any advice? I feel like he just looked me over and sent me on my way without getting to the root of the problem. Although my husband isn't 100% about being a dad, if there is something wrong that will make our chances of getting pregnant less and less, we would like to start trying now. I told him this and his response was... "no really, do you guys want a kid right now or not?" I was shocked!
Well I Have Never Heard Of That Method But If You Want To Get Pregnant Then Dont Take Birth Control If You And Your Husband Or Not On The Same Page Then Hold Off On The Ferility Treatments But In The Mean Time Take Care Of You Self Try To Be As Healthy As You Can Take Womens Vitamins I Have The Same Problem But There Is Nothing The Doctors Can Do If Your Not Ready To Get Pregnant The Only Process Is Feritilty Drugs But Dont Wait To Long Cause The Longer You Wait Your Chances Drop
Talked to my gyno today about how much I HATED Yaz ...
But she stated very clearly that Yaz inhibits ovulation ("puts your ovaries to sleep," she said) and that it thickens your cervical mucous to keep sperm out.
But some women (like me!!!) react badly to Yaz. The doctor told me that women sometimes say they feel like they're crazy when trying Yaz, and I certainly did.
You should get a second opinion from another doctor if you feel like yours has brushed you off. Good luck.
I am on Yaz and I have had no issues with it. Actually it has leveled me out completly. As for the fertility doctor putting you on the birth control to ovulate...that is odd. I went to the fertility specialist for the same reasons ( from what Ic an tell from your post) as you. They said that 1) my weight is a factor ( ever since my first child I have been over weight and 2) I suffer from PCOS( polycystic ovarian syndrome. They will put you on birth control for PCOS. It helps to treat the cycst and to make sure you have a regular cycle. Thing about this is that when you get off the birth control there is a chance it will stimulate your ovaries and get everything back on tract to make you ovulate. Have they shot dye into your tubes to make sure othing is blocking them? If they do that there is something in the dye that also makes you extremly fertile and stimulates ovulation. Alot of woman gt pregnant after this is performed. I was lucky enough to get pregnant but I ended up having a miscarriage 2 months later. I hope some of this helps. But I would definitly ask the doctor some more questions and if you feel you are getting the run around definitly seek a second opinion.
