I have read through countless threads on the nightmare that is the Mirena IUD. I actually had one many years ago, and I couldn't remember exactly why I had it removed. I remember now. I have had it in a couple of months, and I have horrible cramps, painful intercourse, bleed every day, mysterious vaginal infections, no sex drive, dryness, irritibility, headaches, back and leg pain...do I need any more side effects?! My last words to the dr. were something like "Well I'll know if it's the IUD causing problems, because I feel great now!" Famous last words. I got the whole lame speech about how it won't cause any side effects like other birth control methods because it's localized to the uterus. He said there was no way it caused problems for people because it's not systemically absorbed. I think we all know differently though...now. I had taken a break from bc and was managing my endometriosis with progesterone cream. It was wonderful! I finally gained back my sex drive I lost 9 years ago, and it had saved my marriage. The problem was it doesn't keep you from getting pregnant, so I knew I had to get on something. I was so worried I would lose what I had gained, but I've tried everything else there is to try and I felt like I should give it another go. I'm so upset, and I have got to take it out. My husband supports me, but I know how the effects of birth control have strained our marriage. I'm not sure what to do, what to try, and I just cannot get pregnant now. Any advice would be wonderful!
