Talking What to expect coming off the pill

Hello,

I'm new to the forum and looking for a bit of advice. What normall symtoms or things did you go through when comeing off the pill.

I have always been irregular going from not having a period for months to bleeding non stop for months so I went on the pill for a year to regulate my cycles. I came off the pill 2 months ago as my boyfriend and I decided we are ready for a family and that we were just not going to do anything to prevent a pregnancy. The first few weeks off the pill everything was great nothing special, about a week before I was supposed to get my period I started being very gassy, a little nausiouse(sp?) extremly tired, getting bad cramps and all so I thought I was going to get my period when I went to the bathroom at about week 4 and had some vaginal bleeding but as suddenly as it came it left.... after looking on then et I decided to do a hpt to be sure and it was neg, I kept feeling bad and did a blood test at about week 6 and it was neg.... I've continued to have episodes of vaginal bleeding about once a week that come and go just in a trip to the bathroom not even needing a panty linner.

Now I've been haveing some nasty mood swings becomeing dpressed easily whne I have never been a depressed person. It's weird as I know it cane take months for your body to get back to normal but mine has never been normal but the episodes of vaginal bleeding are totally new to me. I've been with my boyfriend for 6 years now and only actually took birthcontrol for the last year and the only reason I went on the pill was becasue I became anemic from nonstop bleeding form my period...

I am waiting for my health care plan to kick in to go to the doctor for a full check up but I had a full panel blood test done about 2 months ago and everything was normal so sorry this is so long but I just want to know what else can I expect to go through before my body becomes "normal" and I just want to know others have gone through this also.

after being on any form of bc you body will have to adjust. its seems as though ur hormones r out of wack cuz u had 2 neg test a upt and labwork, if i took it right.bc can do that to u, umay have not been regular but that was ur normal, you know. but that's what i think still go to the doctor to b on da safe side ok.

Hi there,

From all of the research I've done (and that's alot), having been on the pill and then going off does not affect your period, even if you've been on it for 10 years. If you were irregular before going on the pill, you will most likely be irregular when you go off of it. I had secondary amenorrhea (no period for at least 6 months) before I went on the pill more than 10 years ago and expect that I will be the same when I go off of it this October. My husband and I are planning on trying to get pregnant next spring and I'm hoping to see by then what kind of cycle I have, if any. Good luck with your trying and remember to have fun (don't they say trying is the best part!)
