I had copper IUD inserted 3 weeks ago. Since last week(after 3 weeks of IUD insertion) I am having moderate cramps and reddish/brownish discharge. I was told by my nurse that this is common for first few months. My first period after inserting the IUD started now, I am feeling the IUD strings just immediately when I keep my finger.

Is this common during periods? Will it be normal after the period is over? Or is it a sign that IUD is slipping out?
