Question Nuva Ring questions & concerns

Hello- I was recently given the Nuva Ring after being off the pill for the last 2 months. I went to the doctor and she gave me 3 months worth of Nuva Ring samples to try & see if I like it- I was supposed to put it in on Sunday but I started my period Saturday so they said to wait a week & put it in the following Sunday. My doctor swore by it & I didn't really have a lot of time to ask her my questions & since I've called the doctors office already 12 times I figured I'd try this. I've read some useful pieces of info on here before so I'd really appreciate some help from whoever has used it!

I have really bad cramps- on the pill I didn't but I'm starting to again that is why I'm going on Nuva Ring. Does the ring help with cramps?

Should I store it in the fridge till I insert it? (the samples she gave me have been in the fridge since Thursday) I didn't know if the temp could effect the effectiveness of it or not?

Should I clean it regularly?

I read that it can be out up to 3 hours & still be effective. Does that mean I can take it out during sex & put it back in after?

Can you use a tampon and the Nuva Ring at the same time?

Anyother little tid bits would be useful- I'm sure once I actually start using it I will have more questions!

Angry NuvaRing Help

I have used the ring for over a year.. heres what I know and what Ive experienced:

I rarely had cramps prior to use, had them nearly every month on the ring.

Yes, it should be stored in the fridge until you use it.

Yes you can use it with a tampon but.. NOTE.. be very careful you do not remove the ring with the tampon and flush it like I did once!

You should not clean it, however if it does come out, rinse with warm water (no soap) and reinsert (always wash hands first.)

I actually really enjoyed the convenience and comfort of the ring, however I personally can not tolerate even this low dose of hormones and I continue my 20yr search for a BC product that doesnt make me crazy!

It also kept my cycle very light and regular (as most hormones BC's do.)

As far as when to start it.. honestly I think most people will agree with me that it really does not matter that much. I believe they tell you to start the sunday after your period just to try to keep your schedule in sync as much as possible.

.. from a girl who has way TOO much experience with various forms of BC.

Default

also, forgot to answer your question about sex.
honestly the guy will not feel it and neither will you, so i would not risk it. but lets say.. its a new guy and youre afraid he will.. feel it.. then yes you can take it out (whatever the package insert is. 3hrs sounds correct.)

good luck!

Default thanks!

Thanks for the insight. I'm hoping this one works out for me. Yaz made me nuts so I'm hoping for a better outcome with this!
