the Universal Paradox
All my life I've been bombarded of religious beliefs and ideas. I answer the door and there stands Jehovah Witnesses or Mormon missionarries. I drive down the streets and see Jesus Lives and Jesus Saves. The topic of religion comes up everywhere.
I was raised Roman Catholic but I left my faith when I was about 19, however I was on my way out since 16, just did not want to let go yet. I try to think back to what was the real kicker that finally let me go. There were several issues that I had with my religion but I think it finally came to when I relized that the church and God was not the same. That is I was told that God was constant and infalable, but when I looked at the history of the church I saw that the church was not.
So since the age of 19 I have been in search of answers. Answers to where do we come from? Where does the universe come from? Why am I here? and such...
Through all of this I have found a paradox.
While I was in school (High school and college) I loved science. I loved biology, natural science, chemsitry ect.... So naturally I was exposed to evolution and the Big Bang Theory. This has fascinated me to this day.
So the Universal Paradox...
The more I looked and dove into religion the more I came away empty and thoughts that there is no God. However, the more I dove into science the more I believe that there is a God or a supreme being. The irony is mind blowing.
As I examine religions and their doctrine it has become more and more appearant that for the most part it's man made. Describe Heaven and H*ll for example. A place of pearly gates and white clouds were God wares a rob. H*ll, a place of fire and brimestone where Satan holds a pitch fork. Where have those images derived from? In fact where has the concept of Heaven and H*ll come from. Christianity was an offshoot of Judaism, yet why don't jews believe in a Heaven or H*ll? Man created those concepts and ideas, and they caught on. Now today we accept them as truth. I am not going to bore you with more conflicting stories and origins but as I dug the more Man kept poping into the picture and God out.
So I have examined Darwin's theory of evolution and the Big Bang theory. They both make a lot of sense. A true constant of the universe is that over time there is change and that is the heart of evolution. The Big Bang theory (Ironically was helped founded by a Roman Catholic) there is proof that it did take place. However, the big bang theory also states that there was a primordial matter that was made of Hydrogen and that is what exploded and lead to the creation of everything that you see now. Evolution has shown the relationship of species alive and extinct through out the world. There are paleontological records showing the evolution of a species. But science is still guessing to where life came from. Sure there are several hypothesis but not one solid theory. As for the Big Bang, where did that primordial matter come from. If you study the system of all things and how they are categorized; ...cell, tissue, organ, organ system, organism, community, habitat, biosphere, planet, solar system ect...(there are probably more in there that I left out).
Anyways, the smallest thing in the universe is a quark. It makes up the subatomic particles that makes an atom. All of these categories are a collection of like objects. So if quarks (sp) make an subatomic particle. And many of those make an atom. And then many of those make a molecule ect... The largest thing we know is the universe. The universe is made up of galaxies. So what is outside this universe? More universes? What do they make? But the bigger question for science... What defines the universe? We know of gravity and nuclear forces and time, but what defined that? What set those perameters of laws that all of us live in? What is consciencenous (sp)?
The more I have struggled with these questions I have come to relize that there has to be something that gave deffintion to this universe. Something caused primordial matter to exist. Something established the laws of nature that we live in. Call it ignorance call it reverting back to my early education but I think that it is clear that there is something more...
So where does that leave me, well I look towards religion for God and I find a never ending cycle of religion - no God - science - God - religion.

If there was no "mystic", no "why", where would we really be?
