Friend gave me a copy of New Earth, really enjoying it. It ties into so many things I've said for years or read about, Not halfway through it yet. Anyone else reading this? What do you think?

It's worth the read. The LOML is really into it and I was bit iffy, given some of the changes he's been going through but I love the book. Have been underlining like crazy and will certainly reread it after the first time through to help it sink in better.

Nearly finished with it. There is some good stuff but some I have reservations about. As with anything, you must take what speaks to you and leave the rest. I have a problem with some aspects of his philosophy, we are here in body for a reason. I believe that we need to strive to live and act consciously but we are here to grow and learn and experience. A large part of that is how we interact with others and long term relationships are a huge part of this learning experience. He doesn't really address this area very clearly in this book. I have seen some indication that his book "Now" does.
I differ strongly with philosophies or religions which encourage people to isolate themselves from the world. Tolle is not very clear as to how we blend being so in the now that walking across the room has precidence over why we are doing it with actually accomplishing anything of value. The idea that our work and actions should create something that will endure is lovely but someone still has to take out the garbage. When the pupil is ready the teacher will come but a teacher can only tell us what has worked for them or what they have read or heard from others. What works for them may not for you. Being aware and conscious means your inner voice or your connection with the infinite should guide you. You should be able to open up to it and know what you need. Just plugging into a system won't really do it. Tolle speaks of this, but it needs more emphasis. Each must find their own path to some degree, there may be similarities with other's paths but they will not be identical. It's certainly worth reading, got me reconnected with some things I'd lost. |

I read this a little over a year ago and have since read it again. I also got a copy for my mom and also for my best friend. My best friend read it and got a copy for her mom as well. I thought it was an excellent book aimed at enlightening us which it truly did for me. Reading this and comprehending it, changed the way I look at things, handle things etc. I'm glad to see you are reading it as well.
There were definitely things in his writing that I didn't necessarily agree with, but couldn't say I fully disagreed either. This is an excellent book to dissect.....to underline key points as you go along. That really helped me to identify the purpose of the book. I started reading "The Power of Now" and found that it did not capture my attention as "A New Earth" did. I hope you continue to enjoy it! |

Having had some time to digest this book, I feel that while there is some value there is an awful lot more material that is more worth the time to read. The Red Book, being one. Pronoia Is the Antidote For Paranoia, another.
