Has anyone else read this book?!
I just finished this novel and I want to recommend it to everyone! It does have strong religious themes, but that shouldn't narrow it's audience to only religious people. It is a good story by itself.
I have to say, I didn't like the beginning few chapters. Even the foreword, I found a bit bothersome I guess, but once you find out about The Great Sadness it turns into a whole new creature full of life.
One of my favorite quotes is on page 138. ...evil is a word we use to describe the absence of good, just as we use the word darkness to describe the absence of light or death to describe the absence of life. Both evil and darkness can be understood only in relation to light and good; they do not have any actual existence.
****** SPOILER ********
God continues: I am light and I am good. I am love and there is no darkness in me. Light and Good actually exist. So, removing yourself from me will plunge you into darkness.

I found that to be very thought provoking and wonderful. I also like this quote on page 196, "Emotions are the colors of the soul; they are spectacular and incredible. When you don't feel, the world becomes dull and colorless"
If anyone else has read this book, talk to me because I'd love to talk about it. =]
