Its not very long, its only about a one day read, two if you read on the toilet LOL. Its very grabbing though. If you only like to read a chapter or two before bed it will probabaly last you around a week.

If you are fond of JRR Tolkien.... have you read, The Silmarillian, and The Children of Hurin both written by JRR... They are both quite good...Others have been written by his son, comprised of his fathers notes and his own. I have not read those... Also, other authors have written from his ideas.. Google away!

"The pillars of the earth" and "the world without end", by Ken follet, all time favorite booooks!
They are sequels however they are based so far apart that you can read the world without end before the pillars, i did and it was amazing!
also The serpent's tale a novel by Ariana Franklin, this book is the second in the series and they are excellent.

I've resolved to revisit my childhood a bit. Fun, entertaining and dearly loved kids books for me for the rest of the summer. Some on my list:
The Big Egg story bout a kid who discovers a dinosaur egg. It hatches and hilarity ensues. fun fun fun!
Clifford the Big Red Dog a series bout, well, a big red dog and the kid he ownes. sweet!
The Hobbitt Thanks, Olympia, hadn't thought bout that
Black Beauty Thanks, Lil Chuck, forgott about that one too. What girl doesn't like horses?
The Call of the Wild by Jack London is on my desk now. About a sled-dog living in Alaska in the late 1800's . For some reason, captured my imagination the first time I read it. WONDERFULL

All free at library and give nice mental vacation from work, serious stuff. perfect for summer!

Check out William Morris, he didn't just design wallpaper and fabrics but is credited as the father of adult fantasy (1800's "adult" not porn) The Well At The World's End, The Wood Beyond The World are two. Tolkien and many others were influenced by his work.

Of course you Need to read my book of the year; Women Lead The Way, by Linda Tarr-Whelan

A random crude humor book that is simply rediculous is The Alphabet of Manliness by Maddox. Definitely not for everyone.
There are those who believe that dictionaries should not merely reflect the times but also protect English from the mindless assaults of the trendy.

Oh, oh, oh, Kiss My Tiara. I love this book. She is a riot! Little and Lana love it too, so you have a multiple recomend there.

How about some classics? Stranger in a Strange Land by Heinlein and then check out the Church of All Worlds which started from the book. Clarke's Robot series id good.
The Uppity Women books are fun, just little mini bios.
One I'm reading right now and loving is Exploring Intimacy by Suzan Panek Robins, I'm really connecting with this book.
