Have any of you read the Enid Blyton Faraway Tree series? Ideal book for children, for any of you who have kids, I highly recommend these books. Perfect for parents who like to read to their children. I will always have memories of these books being read to me and feeling like I was really there.

You would more than likely enjoy reading the books yourself. They are wonderful. I dont think the way some people disipline their kids (or rather dont) makes anyone want a baby. There is always that one brat in the supermarket screaming blue murder, being dragged away by the ears by its parents. Pulling every item within reach off the shelves on the way.

I am with Sally, kids books are for kids. I just went through some Janet Evanovich books, its a long detective series...not Nancy Drew stuff but award winning author detective books lol. They are actually kinda funny in some parts as well.

Each to their own, the nancy drew books seem to be very popular. Im not sure you could call them childrens books. They are thick books, and small print words. Hardly any pictures either. I might have to check those books out, I love detective type Books/Games.

The original series' of Nancy Drew, Hardy Boys and Bobsey Twins, were all written by the father and daughter. They were written for young people, had a reasonable vocabulary, were gramatically correct and were fairly good reads. The new series' of these are awful.

Unless you were a fan as a pre-teen I can't really see an adult wanting to read more than a couple of them. If you would like a good detective read, how about Sue Grafton, Marcia Miller, PD James or Martha Grimes ? All Excellent women writers. Or for something set in an earlier time period, try Ellis Peter's Br. Cadfael detective stories.

When I said that Im not sure you could class them as childrens books I was talking about the Enid Blyton Faraway Tree Series, sorry my mistake. I didnt realise I made it sound as though I was talking about the Nancy Drew books, Ive never actually read any of those books. Thankyou for the recommendation

    Sue Grafton
I recognized that name so I asked my mom just now as she is an avid reader and gave the thumbs up for her. So I guess I will have to look into it as well lol.
