Have you seen it? What do you think about this movie? For a low-budget, "not-so experienced/popular" actors/actress, indie - type of movie, I think it is decent.

As for the adaptation from Ayn Rand's novel, it is okay, but Paul (the director_, could've done better. The actress is kinda cute (glad she is!), but she could've also done a better job with her delivery.

Now, tell us what you think?

    Haven't seen the movie.
Have read the book (actually all of her books) more than once. I enjoyed it but Rand was kind of an idiot. Her perception of the world was rather black and white. It was all good or all bad.

Yeah, but...don't you like her wild side? *wink, wink...lol..

    Hubby rants:

Having also read her biography which came out a year or so back, I can't help but imagine what her reaction would be to all the people who claim her as a philosophical inspiration for their hard-core right-wing ideology when she was an adamant atheist who saw anyone who claimed a belief in God as her intellectual inferior and not worth a second's attention. That seems to get conveniently overlooked by those who try to promote her philosophy.

Also, while I can't go so far as to call her an idiot, I do agree that her ideals are overly simplistic, especially when it comes to the type of person she holds up as the model for humanity. We're basically supposed to trust that the so-called "producers", while actually being left to pursue their own selfish interests, will inevitably act in the best interests of society as a whole by innovating and creating products (and wealth) that can be enjoyed by the "masses". Recent history has shown that when left to their own devices, the "producers" can be just as destructive as the "looters" ... i.e. the banking crisis, which was a culmination of many factors, not the least of which was some creative bookkeeping combined with lax regulation.

Much has been written (and will continue to be) about her life and works. Love her or hate her, I do find her one of the more fascinating persons of the 20th century. As with anyone worth studying, a generous helping of salt is also in order.
