Question LSILS w/post coital bleeding HPV

Hi there, new to this site and looking for some answers/advice!

I am 28 years old, I have had one natural childbirth 9 years ago. I take seasonique birth control (not sure if that's relevent). Nearly 2 years ago I started having on and off bleeding during sex. I of course went to my gyn, I had a pap that came back abnormal, but the gyn said it wasn't a big deal and to just continue with my yearly normal paps (I think the pap was ASCUS).

About a year later I went for my pap, but ended up having bacterial vaginosis, so they couldn't do a pap.

Eventually (about 6 months after this) I went for my regular gyn appointment and also to complain that I was still having occasional abnormal bleeding (I realize now I should have been more persistant about the bleeding during my inital visit, and shouldn't have been so slow about getting my second pap). During this visit my gyn told me I had mild cervicitis. She tested me for several STDS which came back all negative. I had a follow up a few days after that and she said the cervicitis looked much better and that she wasn't even going to put me on antibiotics for it - she said this could have easily caused the bleeding (which I didn't think was right because it'd been happening for about 2 years).

I had a pap smear and just got the results back last week which indicated LSIL, which is caused by HPV. I am scheduled for a colposcopy biopsy next week and am terrified of the results, as I've been reading that one of the most common causes of post-coital bleeding is cervical cancer.

I was just wondering if anyone else has experienced abnormal bleeding with LSILS? Is there anyone out there with LSILS that had the same symptoms I did? Or if anyone that had an LSILS pap, and then had a colposcopy could possibly post the results of their colp/treatment plan etc. Will I still be able to have kids?

Also, how bad is the colposcopy? Will the gyn be able to see/tell me anything right there? Or will I have to wait weeks for the results? Is it OK to take an anxiety pill before the colposcopy (xanex, klonopin)? What should I take for pain, just ibuprofen, or something stronger like vicodin? I'm really not concerned about pain too much, but get terrible anxiety.

I'm just going nuts worrying that I'll end up having horrible uncurable cervical cancer and need some relief... thanks for reading, I am grateful to have found this site!

Hi! I had a pap come back with High Grade Lesions. I went for the colposcopy and did take a xanax before the appointment. It is just like a pap unless they decide to take a biopsy. In my case they took two, the first one I didn't feel nothing but a little pinch the second it felt like someone kicked me in my lower stomach. After that there was some bleeding the nurse gave me a tampon to put in and told me to leave it several hours. After that I used thin pads and really didn't bleed much just a little brownish blood for about a week. I waited about 2 weeks for results (which made me crazy) and my Dr. finally called and said I have Moderate/Severe dysplacia 2/3. I am scheduled next Thursday for a LEEP! I also and scared to death about this whole thing. I keep thinking the worst and hoping for the best. I will keep you informed of my outcome and please keep me updated with you... Best wishes and prayers to you!

You will be fine. There are several procedures that can be done if it comes to the worst of it all. Look I am 24 years old and I have had HPV for the last 21 months or so ( I lost count) and I have had many biopsy, coloposcopy, laser and other four procedures done and I have precancerous cells who are still there. I do not have any kids (which is sad for me) but I still try to be positive about it and stress to the minimum (which can be hard sometimes) You wont be in pain when the gynecologist is doing the biopsy, coloposcopy it's really the minor pain. No matter what happens good or bad just remember that you already have a wonderful 9yr old. Be happy even in these circumstances. Life is full of surprises for all of us so take it easy
I wish you the best, and from now on always make sure to go to your appointments regularly, the least you wait the better it is
    Take care
