It just looks bloodshot. I can't see any freckles?
Last month I was washing makeup off my eyes and pulled my right lower eyelid down to make sure I'd gotten off all the gunk, only to find a freckle-looking spot on my eyeball. The part of my eye that it's on is covered by the lid, so it doesn't get sun exposure. I don't know how long I've had it/how long it was there before, but it does make me uncomfortable. I plan on going to the optometrist for it soon, but I'd like a general idea of what to expect before I go.

Could this be cancer? I've been told that lots of people have freckles on their eyes, but it just popped up one day -- plus, skin cancer/sun-related cancer runs pretty heavily in my family. If it is cancer, would I lose my whole eye to it? I have 20/10 vision and am only 17 years old and would love to know that this is more than likely just a little harmless freckle.
Thanks!

Do you see the vein running up to it? It's a darkish spot with a vein going up to it. That particular picture isn't the best. :/

Just based on the appearance of your eyeball I'd say...no. My best friend has a brown freckle right smack dab on her eye ball. It's just that...a freckle (or a mole). Could it be that you've just never noticed it? Could also be a bit of a busted vessel that will heal itself and go away. When any doubt or fear of something like cancer, it's always best to talk to your doc about it (in this case, eye doctor) but I for one wouldn't spend a lot of time worrying about it.![]()

Honey, I agree with the others, if you are worried go to your Doctor, if you have quite a few freckles it's more than possible to have one in the eye as well...
As for your link to facebookI see you only share your page with friends but it's not a good idea to post your real name here, so I've deleted the link....

That's fine, I was kinda like "shwaaa?" when I saw that it lead to my profile. Thanks!
Freckles do not mean cancer. It is only cancer if a Doctor says it is cancer.

So are you going to go to a Doctor? Say yes and you'll let us know how it went....

I don't know if this will help any, but I also have a freckle on my eye. It's on my left eye and it's only noticeable if you're talking to someone, then suddenly they will say, "You have something in your eye!" Then, I have to explain that it's only a freckle, and some people find it strange because they've never heard of having one there before. I also have one on my fingernail... yes, it's actually where excessive pigmentation begins at the nail base and extends a little over the nail. I go to the doctor to have regular pictures taken of both just to make sure that there aren't any changes in size, color, etc. I have had both for as long as I can remember, and they haven't changed. I just paint my nails, and the one on my eye is barely noticeable so I don't even worry about it. So, like everyone else has suggested, just see your doctor and they'll probably suggest something similar for you as well!![]()
