Confronting a guy about this is only going to hurt your relationship. If he is trying to blow you off, he won't like being caught. If he isn't, he won't like you thinking he's the kind of person who'd do something like that. This is lose-lose.

I understand being busy or wanting alone time, but I do think it's kind of rude to not return a phone call or text message. . .
I saw him on Sunday, but I hadn't spoken with him in any way, shape or form since then. I called him last night with no response.
Changing the way you leave him messages can get him to call you back more. A guy will treat a message that consists of you talking about something as information. He'll know he's supposed to know that information the next time the two of you talk, but he won't always pick up on the idea that the real reason you're talking into his message machine might be because you miss him and you'd like to hear from him.

A good way to get him to call you back would be to word your messages so that the appropriate response to your message would be for him to call you back. Ask questions that require his input. Invite him to something he has to RSVP for. If his guy mind can understand why you want him to call you back, he'll probably do it.

I'm rubbish with texts, I just pick my phone up, read it, and think "I'll reply later" then I forget for days or forever.

I brought a girl home the other week, saw her off in the morning then life events took over and I didn't call her for two weeks... Nothing personal just life business, thought I'd messed up that one but she still wants to see me again...

Some guys are just a bit rubbish at getting stuff done

That being said, I hate text, who knows if they really got it. It just goes into textland.

No matter how busy someone is, if they want to see someone, they will make the time to return a phone call. Simple.
or they are just inconsiderate and don't get it.

I've used the "textland" excuse when I've blown someone off before, hehe. I have to admit, I blow a lot of guys off. Especially the ones I just met who want to come over and hang out and "watch movies" on the "couch". I know what that means. I am probably the rudest when it comes to blowing people off. Yeah, I'm that .
