My boyfriend and I have been dating for awhile now, but sometimes it seems like we struggle to find things to talk about. Admittedly, this usually happens online. We've both noted that while our face-to-face communication is excellent!... everything else is kind of lacking. He's one of those guys that (while he does talk) mostly communicates through his body language and facial expressions... without it everything seems to fall flat. He's a very "rigid" writer (to me, his writing comes off as being very formal and up-tight which leaves the conversation feeling even more distant), and it's almost like I lose 95% of the amusing, dorky boyfriend that I love in between all the commas and periods.

So, for those people who have been dating for awhile... what do you two talk about? I know the general "YOUR DAY"-conversation, but not a lot happens on a day-to-day basis that can't be summed up in a sentence or two. We rely on internet communication primarily through the week, since we're both busy with school otherwise, and usually get together when we can on the weekends... but I'll be starting a job soon, so I'm sure that'll cut back on the free time that I have available to spend with him in person. Any ideas on things we could talk about that might spice up our online talks? We usually resort to sending one another youtube clips, articles, or random stuff like that... What do you and your SO do?

Read slashdot - provides lots of fodder for conversations.
