Is it acceptable to date somebody that you don't even like just as a way of signaling your availability?

I guess my question would be... Why waste your time? If you don't even like the person, you are not going to enjoy yourself. It seems it would just be a waste, IMO.

I second what Lana said, plus if this person likes you, then you could be setting them up to get hurt which wouldn't be fair.

Yeah, not really that ok... if you're dating them just to show your availability (which seems sort of counter-productive anyway...) then you're really just using that other person and taking their feelings (and their time) completely for granted.

No one deserves to be treated that way. Find someone to date who you DO like so you don't waste anyone's time

No it isn't okay. It would be a giant waste of time actually.

Ok, lol. Because my mom once did that to a guy. And then she complained about how he tried to kiss him. It makes me kind of mad that she made me feel like that was a normal thing to do.
