My boyfriend's ex was completely against having doors held open for her! (She was also very against calling sex "lovemaking ... ) What a cook!
I'm not big on it, but I think it's nice and polite. I hold open doors for people all the time. I know opening doors, etc is supposed to be about "respecting women," but I'm perfectly capable of opening a door for myself ... and respecting men right back ![]() It all depends on where you're from, I guess. |

Buffalo, NY. But I live in Tennessee, which is where my boyfriend and all my friends are from.
On dates, I've been known to take the wrong seat at dinner because it just didn't ever occur to me that the guy was holding my seat out for me. It's kind of fun to hold open doors for guys. Especially one of my best friends; he gets all kinds of flustered because "that's just not done." Well, it's what I do. I've always been an independent spirit, maybe because I was brought up with northern values and ideas but I live in the south. My boyfriend opens the car door for me sometimes, always walks me out to my car, and closes my car door for me when I'm leaving. He says, "Are you in?" Yes. "Hair and all?" (My hair gets caught in car doors quite often,) Yes. "Seatbelt?" Yes ... before he will close it. I love it; I think it's cute, but I think it's so much fun to mess with my southern friends and give them culture shock. |

I defiantly think that it is a southern thing lol! I live in Texas and doing things like that for girls is just what guys do! I REALLY like it when my man pumps my gas I hate pumping gas!
