She honest and straightforward than most US women

I live in the Midwest and met a woman in California on a trip and have been communicating by phone since last year. I would not ordinarily pursue a long distance relationship but the woman is from Russia and has been in the US for 3 or 4 years. I am not experienced at the LD relationships but thought since she was from Russia if would be more acceptable to her to be involved in this type of relation. Is that true? I may go back west soon and don't know how quickly to move forward. She is more honest and straightforward than most US women I have met. Any advice is appreciated

I don't think it matters where she is from as to whether a LD relationship will work or not. Is she a citizen of US? Have you talked to her about moving to the Midwest, or you moving to the US? Or Russia for that matter, of course with some difficulty in the intrim...

If she is more straightforward and honest than most women you met, ask her what her long term plans are, see if you fit into them.

You met but have been talking for the past year, have you been talking about meeting up again, take a holiday together, get to know each other?

I am in your shoes in as much as I have been phoning, texting, MSN, email etc, England, i am in Australia. We are meeting soon after 6 months to "see"...

Even then, i won't take decisions loosly from there without much conversation and "check it all out", as how we get along together, then decide, visa versa but we're taking that next step and that's the main thing.

Bit hard to answer any more on limited information but happy to if you are wanting to answer a bit more there.

Yeah, russian girls are tasty, and quite sensible - they often seem to be less vacuous than American/English women. How poor is she? It could be a little bit of an issue if she's just after a passport and a comfortable life. Also, I would agree with Chandler in that it doesn't really matter where someone is from for a long distance relationship to work.

If you've been talking for ages it should be quite natural at what pace to proceed when you meet up.
