What to do about chronic hives? Causes??

My husband started itching almost 6 months ago. He thought the cleaners had changed their laundry detergent as he has had break outs from this before. A few weeks later I started itching. My itch was concentrated at the top of my legs, making me think that maybe I was allergic to the elastic in my underwear. The hives quickly spread over most of my body (except for my face). I first went to the dermatologist and his diagnosis was hives. Gave me Allegra and told me to see my allergist if my condition didn't improve. Well, it didn't improve but continually got worse. I went to my GP and he gave me another medicine to try...XYZAL. No change. I then went to the allergist. They did the allergy skin test and nothing really showed up. He put doubled my Allegra to twice a day and added Hydroxizine. I started out taking 10mg at night and progressed to 50 mg. At first it made me very sleepy but now I am waking up around 3:00 in the morning and it's worn off. He has also added Zantac twice a day. We have taken two round of steroids which helped. No more itching...until steriods were stopped and wore off. Does anyone have any clues?? Suggestions??? We have been racking our brains trying to figure out what it could be. Viral infection???? We are having our house tested soon but we were on vacation last month and the itching was even worse while we were there.

*Hi Girls

My Name Is Crystal Waters I am a 48 year old Glam Transvestite & have of late developed constant streaming eyes & running nose when I put on makeup?

It started this summer 2009 & I thought it must be down to Hay Fever!

We are now in late October & still I have the problem & it's driving me nuts.
Thinking along the lines of I may be using cheep inferior products I have just purchased Mayberlene Liquid foundation, eye shadows, lipstick & eye liner pensils.

Still have the problem? I even took Hayfeaver Anti-histermine tablet & that had no reaction at all.

Please can someone tell me what to do as its so uncomfortable.

Would it be worth trying Body Shop products?

Look forward to your comments
