I knew when I was 5 my mother hated me. She picked and insulted everything I ever did and have done. Her excuse was she was never a good "girl mother" whatever the that means. I have two brothers who she is great with, but I think she just had issue with me. I have no idea why, and it is very painful.
"I will go to my grave still grieving the mother love I never had and wishing just as hard that I had been born to someone else."
I have just started a wonderful book "Mean Mothers" by Peg Streep. Fantasic, and very healing as well as validating. Makes you realize YOU aren't crazy - some moms just don't know how to love their daughters. I am hoping to stop this insanity with my two daughters....I do NOT want to keep this cycle my mother and her mother had going.
The book is great. Read it if you can
Hugs and prayers....

Good for you! You can break this cycle and show your daughters a healthy love. Try to find some compassion for your mother, she lost out too, not having a good relationship with you. Forgiving is part of healing and moving on.
We can only learn to love by loving. - Iris Mudoch, British writer
