What we did a few weeks ago was pull names from hats. The previous year, my sister-in-law was depressed because she didn't have money like she wanted (can't say "like everyone else had because none of us have been getting what we use to). So my neice put all of the adults names in a hat (which was seven of us) and everyone buy gifts for the the two grand children (a two year old and a teen which is mine and will probably rather have the cash). Or you could ask them to just buy for the kids and if they buy for you, it's going to go back to the store. There are stores that don't require you to have a receipt when you get a if-y Holiday gift.
