Yeah I think spending quality time together as a unit is really important, as well as firm ground rules for kids, and time every now and then for the parental figures to get away.
what do you think makes a happy family, whether a traditional family with a mum, dad etc or single parent whatever.
i think certain elements must be present,
1. respect for others feelings interests etc, even when you dont share them you respect them.
2. the parents dont have an addiction, whether its gambling, alcohol, drugs, it means they have other priorities over family.
3. fun times together.
thats all i've come up with so far, anyone else got some imput.

yes, thats true adults and kids do need time apart, for sure!
Encouragement, allowing the child to be what they dream of, not what you want them to be.
Friendship, I appreciate there's a fine line, but opening the communication bariers and being a friend as well as a parent.
Togetherness. Always sharing a meal and the day with each other.
Sharing. Doing things with your children that they love and therefore, shocked that Ma and Pa are capable of doing that.. (at their age) haha.
Space. Giving each other space.
Acceptance.. Accepting mistakes and saying "it's ok", it's part of learning and growing so that a child can always approach you.
Sex.. Now come on, that's way importantBeing still in lust with each other and having "you time"...
Which also means "dates". As soon as your child wants to stay over a friends house, you plan a date with each other.
Financial and Household equality .. helping each other .. without lists of chores who does what and being equally responsible financially....

Do we not realise that in order to find a soul
It doesn't happen over night
if truth were to be told.
Like everything in life that's hard to achieve
you must believe!
