I moved to colorado when I was 12. I noticed that there were a lot more hispanic people here then there was in Texas. I thought that to be odd because texas is so much closer to the border. But in the time that i have lived here i have figured out why. I live very close to aspen and there is a lot of money to be made there. They come here illegally from mexico, get under the table jobs or any job, and make all the money they can to send back to their families in mexico. And I can understand that. I have been to mexico and it is a very sad place. But when I was younger, every time I walked down the street, there would be mexican men hollering out the window asking me to get in their car. And now these days, I go to wal-mart and I have to push through the crowds of mexicans. They are rude and think they own this place that they legally shouldn't even be here. They have tons of babies on medicaid. That is the insurance we pay for out of our taxes, when they are making cash under the table not paying a cent of taxes. And just the other day a 13 year old girl was raped at her middle school by a mexican. I didn't feel like this before I moved to colorado. In texas there were mexicans but they had lived there for generations. They raised thier families there, opened restraunts. They made their lives there, not just stompped all over, only caring about sending money back to mexico. And the most recent thing I have noticed is the women. I went to a freind of my husbands house the other day. His wife sat in the kitchen by herself the whole time. Didn't say a word to any of us. I asked my husband (who grew up here) if that was how mexican men treated their wives, he told me yes. That in mexican culture the women are supposed to stay quiet and be unseen. I cannot understand this. I was raised to have a voice. To never let any man control who i am. I am afraid I have become racist. I do have some freinds that are mexican, but honestly I can't stand them. Rent here is unreasonable as it is but any place that is affordable is taken by illegal mexicans. So I have to pay 1500.00 a month for rent when there are apartments that are 800.00. How can this happen??? My first job was at wendys. I quit when they told me i had to learn spanish to keep working there. THIS IS AMERICA! If they came here legally and learned english, and respected our country, things would be different. But they don't respect our land or our morals of whats wrong and right. This isn't mexico, its not okay to get a 14 year old girl pregnant then slap her around and make her feel invisible. Its not ok to take every single job that normally would be taken by high school kids and people that need them to take care of their familes here. Its not ok for a mexican to walk into a middle school and rape a child. Its not ok for non tax paying people to take up our assistance for what is meant for people like me. Last summer my husband and i were going through a hard time. We split up for a couple months. When i went to the human resources office to get some kind of help, I had to wait in a huge line behind tons of mexicans. Each with at least 3 kids and all wanting every kind of assistance, which was set up for women like me. American citizens who are going through a hard time. I can't hadle this. What is INS for???? Does this make me a bad person? I would like to hear from some hispanic women on why they feel like that have to be quiet. What is it in mexican culture that says they deserve to be treated this way by men??? I am sorry if this offends anyone. I don't mean it to do that. I just don't understand why they would do this to a beautiful place like aspen. Why would they come here just to make money and disrespect our culture and expect us to respect theirs??

I am a latina and have ALWAYS been proud of it! My father came to Texas when he was a teenager. He and his brothers and sisters worked and contributed to the household. He married my mother in the 70's and worked hard to support his family. I think the reason so many mexicans are here is because they are doing the jobs nobody else wants, housekeepers, babysitters, day labors etc. Maybe you've run into a couple of rude mexicans but rude people come in ALL colors. Some mexicans are on assistance but so are white, african american, asian, you name it. When I was pregnant with my son I had to wait behind a line of pregnant white girls with their medicaid cards. Mexican women do not have to stay quiet and unseen. It makes me angry to hear comments like that because I think it's just ignorance. You might of had to learn spanish to work at wendy's but you have to realize it is America. It's a melting pot of many cultures. And girls don't get raped by just mexicans, rapists and child molesters come in all colors too.

You will find that many groups, not only from
Mexico, but the Caribbean, will use America as
a kind of grab and run location.

Some Jamaicans, (I'm Jamaican) go up to
America virtually permanently and become
AMericans. Other go up to sell drugs and
hide out, and neither care nor want to be
Americans.

In fact, many Jamaicans wouldn't take
real documents if they were offered, because
by not existing they make a lot of money
selling drugs and whatever other crumminess
they get into.

So the differential are the legal immigrants who
are actually migrating, and the illegal who are
simply playing grab & run.

America has previously been a place people wanted
to go to and become Americans. Recently it has
been different.

What I think you're seeing is that difference.

I want to apoligize if i have offended anyone. But there is really a problem where i live. the population of illegal mexicans is unbelieveable. I also have lived in texas and never had a problem with any race then. It was different there. When ANYONE makes a life somewhere they have an different kind of impact on a community. In texas the hispanic people brought their culture to the community. They accutually raised their children there for generations. But in the place that i live now it really feels like i have been over run by them. I am not trying to say i hate all mexicans, not at all! I am not saying that every mexican women is beaten and tossed in a back bedroom and told to stay put. But in this community they are here only for a little while, only trying to make enough money to go back to mexico and be set. They don't respect our culture and our morals. How do you explain a grown mexican man trying to get a 12 year old girl in their car?? I was that 12 year old girl and every grown man from other races never looked at me twice. I have lost best freinds because they hooked up with one of these type of men, have had two or three kids by now and aren't allowed to talk to me. Why? Because I stand up for myself and don't think any women should ever let a man control her way of thinking. I have watched it, you can't tell me it doesnt exist. If thats not how your life is I am very happy for you. But its out there and I have seen it. Every time you read the police blotter in the paper it is full of Juans and Havier. And there are not very many rapes in this community and the only reason i know about it is that my best freind works as the person who registers you at the ER. This is a very small town that I live in and i know that bad people come from all races, but what I am trying to get across is that in MY community this is a very big problem. the majority of violent crimes here are commited by mexicans. Domestic Violence, Rape, Kidnapping, Drunk Driving. And statitory rape!! That seems to be the #1 problem here. Little 14 year old girls don't understand that its wrong for a 35 year old to come on to them. It seems like thats ok in mexican culture! I have seen my husbands freinds wives stay in another part of the house every time we are there. Not saying a word to us as if they were afraid. They even did a Dateline special about how many illegal mexicans lived in my town. And this is a very small town!! If you could see the difference between texas and colorado you would understand where i am coming from. Please understand I am not writing this to offend anyone. You cannot understand what it is like here. What I am trying to do is vent my frustration first, but I also wish to understand how its okay for illegals to come to our country and take over our jobs, apartments and what gets me the most is the way they take over young girls minds. I don't want my daughter to go though the same kind of harrasment i did when i was young. And I wouldn't be upset about mexicans getting on assitance, but that money that goes out to people in need, come from that money that comes out of our paychecks. But when the money goes to people that get paid under the table and pay no taxes it is unfair. I pay that knowing that it will help other women in need. Women like me who are good citizens and have fallen on hard times TEMPORARILY. And women who are contributing the same way i have.
