Just out of curiosity - why did you tell your mum about your porn habits? what were you talking about to get you on the topic of it? Also, in the risk of sounding stupid, are you male or female?
I just cannot make my mom see sense. I happened to let it slip during a casual chat with her that I surf porn sites in my pass-time sometimes, like everyone does. She's fairly conservative by the way, but now she's blowing up the issue BEYOND PROPORTIONS. I'm 20 by the way....we had a fight yesterday over something totally un-related to this; and she started bringing this up and called me "(bypassing profanity filter)". I answered her back and gave her a piece of my mind. Seriously....how primitive can she get?

Well, we were just having a casual chat about the explicitness in Bollywood movies these days (I'm from India)...and the topic of porn sprang up. I casually mentioned to her that I'd watched porn at the age of 15 first and she asked me if I still watch it. I replied , "yes". She was a trifle shocked, but didn't take the matter further at that time. Later on, yesterday I was working on a project on my PC and had shut the door from inside...she opened it, and barged in demanding to know why I was keeping the door closed and whether I was watching porn. It snowballed from there and she started taunting my sexual instincts. I'm PISSED HARD.![]()
I'm female by the way.
Certainly not everyone has the same opinions on whether or not porn is okay or not okay. Some people think it's pure disgusting dimented trash. Others dont mind it, think it's fine. Your mom obviously falls into the former category. You're not likely to change that about her. I think the best bet is to know your mother well enough to know that there are things like that better left unsaid. Had you not brought up watching porn at 15, she wouldn't have asked. And, I'm not a parent, but I'd still be disturbed if I found out my 15 year old watched porn. Parents just don't want to think of their kids in that way.
Ignore her, this will eventually pass. Or better yet, move on out and then surf porn in the freedom of your own place.![]()

I'm Indian too, and my understanding is that the older generation can be very conservative when it comes to these things. Getting them to see your point of view is like talking to a brick wall. I would just leave it. Let her have her view, but it doesn't mean it can affect yours.
While my parents haven't yelled at me for looking at porn, I've had Indian ex-boyfriends that taunted me for it.![]()
That made me laugh, bless them, do that not think we are human too? Or, sexual? While my parents haven't yelled at me for looking at porn, I've had Indian ex-boyfriends that taunted me for it.
Tell your Mom, you are researching to ensure you are a good wife, when that time arises, that will get her![]()

Different generations feel differently about things. Your mother is from a more conservative time when India was much more conservative and probably before Bollywood even existed.
As for you, you should know better. So get over your anger with your mother, grow up, and don't share things with your mother that you know she may not understand or be accepting of.

I do however understand that maybe it is a bit odd to tell your mum - I dont think (correct me if im wrong!!) i can imagine any mum wanting to know that their daughter watched porn, or their sons for that matter. but again, maybe thats just me.
