You can't blame men for that.
Actually anon, part of our selection of women is also societal programming.

A few hundred years back when food was more scarce, a women how was obese would be considered a very high status female and very attractive. Even these days, psychological test have been done on men to prove when and what they find attractive.. I read a statistic a few months back and it should when a man is hungry he sees a female with a little more weight to her as more attractive, because subconsciously he believes that she has access to food.

I understand your position because i cant argue with you from everything to a women waxing her eyebrows to seem more submissive to blushing there cheeks to seem more orgasmic to wearing push up bra's to seem more fertile.

To you CW i will have to answer you another time because it requires a bit more thought. However a quick note is that life is based on decisions is it not? Every decision you have 4 possible outcomes. I will go deeper on this later.

    hope this helps

OK, well, if I was a caveman, I'd mate with the athletic girl who might be able to carry my kids away from danger, then steal the fat cave womans food and fun off with it, not like she could stop me.

Yeah, sure, a lot of it is societal. So many different things contribute to attraction, childhood etc. But I don't think that desiring a woman who would actually be useful as a cavewoman could be frowned upon.

Just like I guess we men can't complain that women seek wealth and power, it's in their genes. And societal. Everything merges to make a reality out of the situation, rather than simplifying it down to : that guys just a pig.

LMAO... Its the simple facts... When hungry you will find a female more attractive if she has evidence of being around food.

In life there is a natural order of needs called "Maslow's hierarchy of needs" Google it if you dont know what it is.

    From first to last:

    1) Physiological: hunger, thirst, bodily comforts, etc.;
    2) Safety/security: out of danger;
    3) Belonginess and Love: affiliate with others, be accepted; and
    4) Esteem: to achieve, be competent, gain approval and recognition.

You wont care for that fit girl if your Hungry. Your desire for food will overpower your desire to align yourself with the fit girl.

We can safely argue and debate behind the security of our computures. If you wish to continue.

Women are not logical creatures, there emotional. It is simply easier to identify a man as a "thing" (animal) rather then trying to understand why she thinks that way using logical theory.

If we men were to talk about a new car we will use techincal terms. Horse power, torque, curb weight, price and whatever features comes with it. We will not talk about how it makes us feel.

One more outburst from you young lady and i will be forced to have to hog-tie you and pin you up on the school flag pole. lol

You may very well be "Odd". From experience when I'm with my mom and she bought her now Mercedes clk320 she used terms like. This feels comfortable. I like the wait the seat hugs me. The petal is soft and responsive.

My lil sister just bought her first car not to long ago and she also used EMOTIONS to communicate her excitement about her new car.

    Sorry to hijack your thread.

So all you have managed to point out is the thoughts and dispute of whether a woman carrying weight is attractive or non attractive to the male species. haha.

    Typical.

But, what about the fact that the threader mentioned something about the finances due to addictions?

The addictions in themselves and obviously eating has become another one..........

What about the fact that the threader is hurt by all of this personally and in my "opinion" is blaming the obesity as the issue instead of all of the issues at hand, that being that the Mother is only caring for her own needs, be it drugs/alcohol/gambling/spending/food all of them...

Appreciate that the threader is "only" talking about food... But, surely you agree there is more to it than that?

That there is a problem here with the mental statis of her Mum that needs to be sorted?

Yeah, I know CW has to ruin it.

    Default Taking Mother Clothes Shopping

My Mother isn't a petite either. but so what!
She doesn't go for jeans, we get her some 3/4 pants in navy, and for special occasions, she wears skirts in beautiful neutral patterns (think tribal, browns and creams patterns) and black tops in the evening.
For day with the navy 3/4 length pants, it's a white shirt, or a polo top, and always, always a bright silk scarf, pink or patterned, or a big bright set of chunky beads to coordinate.
Big women should not be made to feel like they are invisible. Bright colours are great, esp for older women. But always accessorise with chunky beads or scarf in bright colours.

She's got a few jackets too. A crushed velvet black jacket for evening and for day some bright jackets that cover the butt. There is a cinema reviewer on tv in Australia called ..........who i use as a role model for what style mature women can go for. She is really fashionable and groovy and her clothes prob cost more than my mother can afford but it's a blueprint. We think she looks great.

Good luck and I hope this helps, self esteem is so important for Mothers.

Certainly i do not disagree with your statement pertaining to "big women"..

However, do sometimes, they have insecurities and need guidance?

I am asking due to what i highlighted.

I googled the name you mentioned, she is thin but I can see the "accessories" but also I see the controversy of her "job" and comments, it can be perceived to be advertising "her show"...

So, why do you purchase your Mother's clothes?

    Curious.

first of all thanx to detective sarah, i have a few good ideas for the next time i go shopping with Mama. Beyond that though, I feel that CW made a pretty good point. I mean it's obvious mama has an addictive personality- the pills, alcohol, food. Because she has promised and promised to quit and just sneaks around with it I don't feel bad for her being the way she is. I have tried to counsel her, took her to a church, got her in AA. i mean what else can I do? so yeah, I do have a rather negative, apathetic attitude toward her for being so big. I won't say that I've given up but I've certainly stopped caring.

    Yes it's just guidance.
I don't actually purchase my mother's clothes. I just help her choose. She's independent - she just took a 6 week trip overseas (and came back a new woman might I add, pretty amazing)
... but - she's nurse and not a stylist and she doesn't buy magazines and it's like a mother-daughter thing to go clothes shopping together and look at clothes and i can give her my opinion on what works, what looks good, and what makes her look like a fat person and what compliments her.
And then we go for coffee. It's a catch-up.

Margaret P the film reviewer - yes she's thin, but i love her colour selection and accessories.
Dawn French is a big lady and looks really great with her plus size - a great English comedian.
If you look around there are heaps of fashion icons for older bigger women, you just have to find them. But Dawn French is a good place to start - she even did her own fashion line for a chain. I just googled her.
