How do I get my boyfriend to stop wearing pleated jean shorts???

Granted he works in construction, and buys these shorts only from Goodwill cuz they get dirty easy. But really? He looks like a goof...and when he comes to visit me at work for some lunch, it kind of embarrasses me with the way he's dressed. He has a pair of jean shorts (not pleated, thank God) that he used to wear daily. But I have finally gotten him away from them. See what 14 months can do in a relationship?

I supervise his shopping experiences, and he has now stuck to cargo khaki shorts of different colors.

But what are your opinions about the shorts he wears to work? Should I let it go, cuz they're JUST work shorts? Or should I throw them out and replace with them better looking shorts? God, I can't wait for it to get cooler, so he can start wearing his work jeans again....granted those are tapered (which he still only buys at Goodwill)...oy. Men.

My dear love.

My ex-husband was in construction he wore shorts. If the people around you can't realise what he does for a living bad luck.

I say that in the nicest possible way because your talking about working time, not when you go out, not a BBQ, rather work and that you don't like him visiting you at work in this clothing.

It's work.

It's what he does.

You should not tell him to change anything.

This is your perception without accepting him in this light and that he works in a good industry that brings in good money and they wear what makes them feel comfortable.

Please don't take this the wrong way.

But, the only time I was worried was when we went to family and he couldn't put on jeans and a top because he got too used to the shorts.

It's work love and they have to be comfortable..

As, I said, you need to love your man, accept what he does, and if he visits you at work, you go girl, other girls would kill for their man to love them in this light and do that...

Tell them that.

Yeah, I've started to get over it now. I love that he visits me at work (he's brought me flowers numerous times to make the other girls jealous). But I have set it in stone that he's not allowed, under any circumstances, to wear the same kind of clothing he wears to work when we're out together haha. I do love him, and appreciate everything he does for me. He's learning good fashion from me though

Good, he loves you, a job is a job.

He sounds perfect... you are so lucky. Don't be too controlling "set in stone" you may lose him one day when others say it's not in stone, you are who you are.

Point I was trying to make.

Sorry that is what I see, you still "control" what he wears.. He can't be him... If he gets older he will see that he can do what he wants in that department can't you?

If you appreciate what he does for you, quit telling him how to dress.

Sorry, but that is you , not him, your controlling.
