Default I need advice about shoes!!

    Hi everyone...I'm new!

I have spent the last few months working out and getting in shape after not exercising for a long time. I have bought a few sexy spring/summer dresses that fall just above the knee (I'm in my early forties) and I am at a loss as to what kind of shoes to buy.

I have worn shorts for years so I am totally out of the loop as to what kind of shoes are right for the new dresses.

I have foot problems. I also (since birth) have HATED sandals. I'm tall so I usually avoid heels both because of the added height and the comfort issue. What should I be shopping for? Ballet flats or Mary Janes? Sporty tennis flats? The dresses are flirty, sexy and I want to wear something that fits them. Also, is there a great online shoe store? Any favorites? Thanks!

When it comes to figuring out the fashion, I like to walk into the biggest, trendiest stores and look at how their mannequins are dressed! It can really help me get a feel for what style is in, what can acceptably be paired with what, etc.

If I were you, I'd do that, and then if I could I would just buy one of every "type" of shoe so I'd have something for any occasion.

    Default classic wedge sandal!

Personally, I think that every lady needs a classic wedge sandal...something very basic with a peep toe. I find them really confortable, sexy and feminin.

No matter what, it seems as though they always in style! Most importantly they can really dress up a casual outfit (ex: you in shorts!)

Those are really cute and sexy but I'm afraid I'd feel like Godzilla clomping through the city. I'm almost 5' 10" and even though I like my height, I don't want to add to it either, kwim?

I love Espadrilles. I think I will try to find a pair with a lower heel.

I don't think you can go wrong with a good pair of ballet flats. They go with so much. You can wear them with dresses, jeans, just about anything.

Anne. I have to tell you as a woman who is 5'11 - please... embrace those new legs that you've just gotten into shape and get a pair of heels! Nothing makes the calf look more toned!

Those wedges featured by Olivia are totally awesome too, however, if you feel like you don't want to tower over the "average" male (who is like 5'8) Catt makes a good point. You can't go wrong with ballet flats.

i agree, i love trendy flats with a rounded toe! i have big feet though (9 1/2 - 10) lol i'm 5'8 so they work with my height.
    they make satin like flats
& for times when u wear jeans they have more everyday ones.
i have a cute black pair with pink & gray poka dots!
    flats for the win!
Congratulations! Today is your day. You’re off to Great Places! You’re off and away! You have brains in your head. You have feet in your shoes. You can steer yourself any direction you choose. You’re on your own. And you know what you know. And YOU are the guy who’ll decide where to go.
