Default Bra size cant be right... can it?

    44AA

I kid you not, I have just measured myself and used a bra size calculator.

I am a larger lady and I do feel that my chest is not quite large enough for my frame but 44AA?

I have never even seen this size in a shop and have just looked online and I am finding it difficult to find a bra.

I had been wearing 36/38 B but the cup is too big but the back can be tight but its the biggest ive been able to find without a stupidly large cup, so I thought right get it sorted (im bridesmaid soon and want a good strapless bra for dress).

    44AA is this right?
Where could I find bras of this size?

44AA? Im still confused and in shock.

I remember an Oprah episode specific to bras where the specialists said that 8 out of 10 women wear the wrong bra size. I'm definitely no sizing expert, but I would say that ANY cup and ANY band back be of just about ANY variation... so a 44AA is feasible!

Your best bet would be to head to the nearest bra boutique (or even a Victoria Secret) and get sized by one of the professionals there! They do this stuff for a living so they would be able to tell you exactly what size you are and what type of bra will be your best fit.

Do NOT use bra calculators. They are so out-of-the-world completely wrong, I don't know why they exist. They add too many digits to the chest measurement, which makes the breast measurement off. Most women wear bras with too big a band and too small cups ... maybe this is why!
What is your actual measurement around your chest (under your breasts?) Add 1-2 inches to that, and you have your band size. However many inches above that the measurement of your actual breasts is, that's your cup size (1=A, 2=B, etc)
For example, if you are 35" around the chest and 37" around your breasts, you're probably a 36B.
The band of a bra should fit snugly around your chest all the way around. It should not lift up in the space between your breasts, or slide up during the day. If it lifts, your cup size is not big enough ... if it slips up during the day, you need a smaller band size number. Your breasts should not spill out of the cups, but should fill them all the way up.
Another word of caution: an A cup on a 32 band bra and an A cup on a 36 brand bra are two different sizes. The A cup on the 36 would be approximately the size of a C cup on a 32! Don't be afraid to experiment with your bra size. It's all about your comfort and support. Don't let anybody tell you what your bra size is or isn't, it changes with the time of day, time of the month, brand, store ... etc.
