Default Blue Jeans streching out after wash?

Can anyone suggest a good durable brand of blue jeans? I noticed that most of the ones I buy start to fade or strech out after about 6 months. It makes me cringe to spend more than 30 bucks on a pair. The most I have spent is $25 (about 20 euros). Am I being cheap? Would I be better of buying a pair of $50 jeans? Would they fade and strech as fast?

Also I heard that you were only supposed to wash jeans every other time you wore them, unless they were really dirty. Has anyone else heard that?

Levis are always a good bet if you want comfortable jeans. The non-prewashed 501s never stretched out, but they required special attention to fit correctly. You buy them one or two sizes too large and then go home to a hot bath with the jeans on. No soap or shampoo should be used, but since they will bleed color, it was best to do this without underwear. Your body will be stained blue for several days. They are usually cheaper than the prewashed ones. Make sure you can stand the water. You could use extra hot water without being in the jeans, but after a short soak, you have to cool down the jeans and water and get them to mold to your body. Many say to launder them only rarely.

personally I go with express jeans. They are about 80 dollars a pair, but they never stretch as you go through the day wearing them. If your jeans stretch in the wash try drying them on a higher setting in the dryer. If you find dryers shrink your things dry them on a drying rack or on a line. Good luck hope it helps

I think it really just depends on your body type and jeans, but I personally only wash my jeans every other wear or so. Normally I wear work clothes during the week so it works out okay for me. If they have stretched out slightly, occassionally I will throw back in dryer for about 10 minutes just to kind of "help them out"

I just buy the Forever 21 brand jeans. They're anywhere from $5 to $30. The fabric actually is supposed to tighten the more you wash them, though they do loosen up during the day. I wash mine every 3~4 days (and have post it notes all over my room with how many days they've been worn, haha).

I generally wash my jeans twice a week. But it's not streching or fade. Actually if you want to maximum time wash your jeans then it would be streched or fade. So as my opinion you have generally wash your jeans two or three times in a week.

For the most part fabric will stretch or give as it is worn. It is perfectly natural for the fibers and the weave. In the laundry. the water and detergent act like a lubricant allowing the fibers to slip back into place, the heat of the dryer will further contract them. One thing that can help is buying garments that actually fit propertly so that less tension is placed on the fabric. Another thing that helps is not buying the chemically treated "pre stressed" or faded demin. This is a highly toxic, chemical process which degrades the fibers in the fabric. It is damaging to the environment and causes your clothing to last for a much shorter time, as well as making it more likely to "stretch" as you wear it. The fibers just aren't as strong.

I'm not in favor of the idea of soaking yourself in your jeans in hot water. Dyes can cross the skin barrier and many are toxic. !00% cotton will shrink unless it has been pre-shrunk (which can be as simple as washing a couple times before the garment is made or worn. How much it shrinks depends on the fiber and weave. Seamstresses (at least in the past) routinely pre shrink fabric before cutting out the garment. Back in the dark ages when I was in my youth, we bought jeans a couple sizes too large, knowing they would shrink, a good sales clerk then knew their merchandise well enough to advise a customer as to how a particular product was likely to shrink. Our pants got faded and "washed" looking over time as we wore them out.

Wash in cold water. There is no way to completely prevent fading but you can minimize it simply by using fewer washes.
